LOL....you make me laugh bc my DH is the same. He already thought my e-ring was large enough sans halo!!!

I think with my halo being approx 2mm or so, from what I'm able to determine, but entire ring (with halo) will resemble something in the "just under 3 carat range"

Still NO word from my jeweller

doesn't your jeweler know he is keeping us all waiting!!! *tapping feet* haha Not to mention a deadline before your dentist appt!

People confuse my ring for much bigger than it really is with the halo and it's a much more smaller halo than yours! And we both have 1.25 rounds too so i can only imagine yours! Wow! You definitely will notice the difference in finger coverage from your solitaire! How exciting!!!

DF still has his panic moments when we are in places where we are walking and the sun catches it JUST right. He is so worried about me but now feels much better that we have it insured.

Not knowing where you live and where you go in your city, I will say this: the chances of it being ripped from your body in a mugging are less likely than other forms of theft. But having it insured is a very good thing. I worked in a neighborhood where murders were like a daily almost hourly occurrence and there would be dumped bodies and muggings like all the time. Mine never got stolen. I never really experienced any of that stuff, just the car breakins. I only know of a few people who had purses snatched (one of which jumped on her thief and got her purse back lol) but mostly the ones who worked there were "known" and never bothered with. It was the tourists that they wanted to hit.

Wow! I'm really glad to hear that nothing has ever happened to you! I live in the bay area in a pretty nice quiet neighborhood. But like in any big city there are those pockets and areas where you have to be more careful than others. I've heard of people getting robbed at gunpoint late at night for their purses but luckily no one got hurt. I'm under STRICT instructions from the DF that if anything like that happens to me to just hand it over.

But on the humorous side of all this: My mom got her purse snatched almost RIGHT in the middle of the financial district once. BUT the feisty girl she is held on tight and started hitting him and then screamed "IT'S A FAKE!" as loud as she could as so did it. hahaha even though it wasn't. and the thief ran off.

That's smart! I witnessed a few tourists getting their purses snatched, even ran after a guy once, but couldn't catch him. My husband tells me the same thing, but I carry usually, esp if I am going to that or any similar part of town, and I will almost certainly shoot to kill if someone lays a hand on me.

Ill tell you what the cops that were always down there would tell us:
Locals are the last ones they want to deal with. Most are kids, many are doing gang initiations...some are not, especially now with everyone out of work. But mugging a local victim is "dangerous". They run the risk of seeing you again later and you remembering them. They want the ones that aren't from here because they have less of a shot of a second run-in.

Definitely hand everything over. Not worth your life.

Your Mom is smart! Love that story. What an a-hole......

Update......ring won't be ready today.

I'm not even upset. I'm catching the "Ame" bug where this waiting is now getting to the point of me not caring.

I'm told it will be in tomorrow, but at this point, I'll believe it when I see it.

It's only a silly little ring and yet, emotions run high. And this makes perfect sense too LOL

I may be laughing on the outside, but I am PISSED

 but I'll be awaiting your post tomorrow!

At least you know you were over the long part and it's mostly over. Just "THAT" much longer. I had to remind myself of that when waiting for my ring past the 4 week expectancy. My ring supposed to be ready on Thursday and GOG got it the following Tuesday and it arrived at my door on Wednesday of the following week. Waiting is so much harder, the minutes just seem to go by slower....

An engagement ring is very emotional! Stick it out and it'll be beautiful! Can't wait to see it still...

I'm so sorry Contessa :-(

On the theft note: My mom had a knife pulled on her once in Cancun and she looked at the guy and said "no thank you, we aren't buying anything else today" and walked away LMAO  God bless her soul she had no idea she was being mugged. She thought it was another street peddler. I think the theif was so shocked he didn't do anything else.

That makes sense to rob people with less chances of seeing them again. DF wants me to start to consider carrying. Since getting the ring, we are planning on date nights at the range. We are just that romantic! lol He'll never admit it, but I'm the better shot! haha

awwww your mom is so funny! We are actually thinking about Mexico as a possible honeymoon so the ring will definitely stay home if we do! I might just wear the spacer even!

Yea I have serious issues with that. Don't promise a date you cannot make!!! Grrrr!!!

I know your pain. I KNOW YOUR PAIN.

If anyone knows my pain, YOU do!!!

You know, I'd rather they NOT RUSH, than do a half-assed job. I have a feeling the wait will be worth it in the end...or so I'm trying to tell myself LOL

SK, you're Sweet! (and gorgeous) Thank you.

Yes definitely don't rush!!! I was practically biting my hands to prevent myself from emailing GOG near the due date to see if it was in or we had a status of the ring. LOL

I'm just so excited for you and can't wait to see your reaction and everything!

I'm sorry Contessa. . .I HATE it when people don't deliver!! But then I also hate it when people are dodgy with time lines/estimates because I want a definite answer! Don't worry, when you see the ring and have it on your finger, it would all be TOTALLY worth it!!

The friction really does wear the rings and prongs down. People who work with fabric will tell you that. Gold is particularly susceptible. But the bigger issue is that if there's a rough prong or a prong not totally touching the stone, and a thread from a blanket or sheet gets under it and you thrash or roll over, there goes that prong and possibly your stone with it. On my first ring before it was stolen I learned that lesson early, but luckily didn't snap the prong off or lose my stone!

As far as the ring boxes, till my purse was stolen with the rings in them a year ago at the gym, I would use them to hold my rings while I was working out. Especially with weights. I don't want the platinum being totally ruined or the rings being warped. I still do that when I do actually go to the gym, my purse just stays WITH ME at all times or locked in the trainers office which is constantly watched and has cameras in the event someone DID break in. I keep ring boxes and tiffany suede pouches with me in the event that I need to take them off at work or elsewhere. Prior to switching jobs I needed to take them off a lot so that I wouldn't get glue/spray adhesive all over them, which is a NIGHTMARE to get off everything, and if I am banging my hands around a lot I take them off too. At my current job I just do a lot of paper work and filing and its jsut safer and easier not to have them on.

I also take them off if I am going to the hair place or trying on clothing. Flying stuff, and people grabbing at them with crap all over their hands, snagging possibilities....Im too anal retentive!

I don't usually put my rings on til I am just leaving for work or til I get to my desk and situated. My hands get back to normal and not swollen by then usually. I don't usually keep rings on at home, esp for cleaning, cooking, working on an invitation order, etc. I do not wear rings or allow jewelry around any invitation orders ever. I don't want to damage the paper or scratch the inks.

Wow. Just, wow.
