You don't see how someone appropriating a culture could cause people to side eye? Just like her no game in rap, Iggy isn't even distinctive in this thing. People used to (and still do, actually) talk about Gwen Stefani, her Harajuku fetishizing, and her whole problematic issue of cultural appropriation.

I was talking to a friend about this last night. I made this analogy: Imagine Jay Z just coming out as a new rapper. He's from Brooklyn but spent four or five years in northern England. If the first album he dropped had him rapping in a cockney accent people would be like, Wait. Isn't that dude from Bed Stuy?! Where is the cockney accent from? Why is he frontin'?

It's the same thing with Iggy. She's a fake, a phony, a front.

The only people who can't understand cultural appropriation are the ones appropriating the culture. They lack any ability to understand why folks would take offense or find it off putting if not done respectfully. I side eye the hell out of Iggy every chance I can because she such a charlatan.

And this story that folks are trying to spin about her sales and how well she's doing is comical.

The mic.com article was good too. Q-Tip taking her to church is hilarious.

http://mic.com/articles/107012/hip-...a-just-blew-up-and-she-completely-deserves-it

Yup. But she completely dismissed Q-Tip because Lupe and will. i. am (or as someone on Twitter said "will. i. was") caped up real fast for her. She thanked them instead.

Edited to respond to that IG screen cap (when I was originally looking at the posts on my phone, the picture didn't show up): The argument made is interesting, indeed. Whoever brought up Lil Wayne and Rick Ross is purposely ignoring that both men got A LOT of push back over mentioning Emmett Till and rape, respectively, in their songs. Like, a lot. That person wouldn't know it though if they weren't paying attention. There are also plenty of black women who talk about misogyny in rap, so again, those arguments in the IG post are disingenuous. (On the misogyny front, it's seriously played to make it seem like misogyny ONLY happens in rap. That ish happens in rock and country and pop as well. Some folks just like to scapegoat rap.)

There seems to be a real campaign out there to take her down. I think her music will ultimately do her in.

Not a campaign. I think she's just, unfortunately, not genuine so therefore when people come for her as customary in hip-hop, it just exposes more of her fraud. And she doesn't even realize how fraud she is because she manufactured by TI.

Great analogy.

Iggy Azalea Sounds Off After Getting Support From Will.i.am & Lupe Fiasco - Read Her Tweets!

Iggy Azalea took to Twitter to show her appreciation for Will.i.am and Lupe Fiasco after they defended her following her fight with Azealia Banks.
“Thanks lupe and will iam what you guys said was really nice and i appreciate it,” Iggy tweeted.

Her response came after Will.i.am wrote, “.@IGGYAZALEA hiphop Is global now…it doesn’t matter if your white or black…thanks for contributing & spreading our culture positively. It saddens me that people are making a big deal about race in hiphop & not ethics…today’s ethics goes against our foundation.”
Right after showing how grateful she was of Lupe and will.i.am., she shared some candid thoughts to her fans.

Good she acknowledged that she's pop...about time. Now if only she could stop with the fake accent and southern drawl that she adopted to make herself more marketable (or be "credible" to those who know no different).

She has a right to talk or rap how ever she wants, this isn't North Korea. Music is art, expression; However one wants to express. No matter their ethnic background, country of origin, style, etc... No fan of rap or pop's view is more credible or important than another, the whole argument is ridiculous.

What are you talking about? Seriously. Where did I say she didn't have the right to do what she wants? Obviously she does because she does. And where is anyone saying that a fan's view of pop is more important than hip hop or vice versa? You're picking out what you want from what others are saying. That's fine I guess, that's the ways some folks interpret information. Blessings.
