What are you talking about? Seriously. Where did I say she didn't have the right to do what she wants? Obviously she does because she does. And where is anyone saying that a fan's view of pop is more important than hip hop or vice versa? You're picking out what you want from what others are saying. That's fine I guess, that's the ways some folks interpret information. Blessings.

My entire post wasn't aimed at you, just the first sentence.

Why can't an artist be a fusion of pop and rap? Like Nicki Minaj. Why does it have to be one or the other? We're living in 2014, music is evolving. Lindsey Stirling does classical that incorporates dubstep and electronic house music. It doesn't have to be one or the other. Who was even disputing that Iggy wasn't pop? She's clearly a mix of pop and hip hop, she did a song with Ariana Grande, you can't get more pop than that.

She has a right to talk or rap how ever she wants, this isn't North Korea. Music is art, expression; However one wants to express. No matter their ethnic background, country of origin, style, etc... No fan of rap or pop's view is more credible or important than another, the whole argument is ridiculous.

Lord.

Yup! Iggy should say she is in a new category Pop/Rap! Apparently, the haters gonna hate will she rakes in the millions! I mean look most music genres are more accepting of crossing music artists! I mean Country use to be a little touchy but now it all sounds sounds like Country pop!

Everyone in music is derivative. Everyone. Going way back. Both ways. I'm a music nut and all you need do is take a good long look at the history of rock and roll. Its called musical evolution and its a constantly moving, changing beast.

People emulate and absorb what they love. I don't think Iggy is any different.

An artist can be any fusion. No one has an issue with Iggy rapping and being a pop artist. There are so many artist who are hip hop and pop or pop and rock or hip hop and rock. If that's what everyone is getting from it then the point hasn't been articulated well enough or that's all that wants to be taken from the point. Music as an art has no genre and is influenced by all.

Iggy stated that Iggy was hip hop. Forbes tried to brand her as the queen of hip hop when hip hop never gave her that title. It's about ignoring everyone else who's in the genre to promote her as the leader of hip hop. She affects a southern drawl and TIs whole style as a caricature which is what people object and reject. It's fine to say you like her as an artist and her music is perfectly fine but stop telling us she's the queen of hip hop when the entire hop hop community has not given her that accolade.

Hip pop already exist. It's not a new category.

Let me kindly rephrase this "Haters are gonna Hate" no matter what ! So apparently she can not claim any title!
She can't claim any title, it has to be granted to her. But if hip pop wants to grant her that title, they should crown her queen of hip pop. I'm hardly a hater. I reserve the right to not like fraud people. If that make us, who find her fraud, a hater in your book, we'll live.

Amen!

Saw this on IG and thought it was interesting.

The biggest flaw with this statement is that black people heavily criticized Lil' Wayne for that Emmitt Till lyric(I was one of them), and black people also heavily criticized Rick Ross for that date rape drug lyric to the point where he lost his contract with Reebok. So inaccurately pointing out those two incidents and make it seem like blacks were okay with it in the first place in order to try to take attention off of Iggy Azalea is divisive at best.

She had a breakout year in 2014 with chart-topping singles and countless accolades.

And Iggy Azalea celebrated her successful year with a party at Drai's Beach Club Nightclub at The Cromwell in Las Vegas where she rang in the New Year with boyfriend Nick Young on Wednesday.

The 24-year-old hitmaker, who is nominated for Best New Artist at this year's Grammy Awards, dressed to impress opting for a plunging metallic fringe one-piece that showed off ample cleavage.
