Exactly. If she's going to be crowned anything crown her the queen of pop...but they wont because thats BS too. She is not hip hop. She is a manufactured, packaged attempt to delude the masses that she's been accepted and revered as the face of an industry that has not revered or accepted her. That is my issue.
100%. It drives me crazy when people who don't listen to actual hip-hop refer to her as the top in hip-hop. Iggy who? Who the eff is asking Iggy to feature on their songs in hip-hop? No one! She's not featured on any songs...how can you be the queen of hip-hop or top in hip-hop and not be featured on any hip-hop artists' songs?! I can be missed with all of that....

Nicky wasn't nominated for any solo Grammys this year that I can recall and Iggy was... And I was referring to Macklemore winning several Grammys earlier this year in rap categories. Kendrick, anyone? The Grammys are a joke.

And I agree, she's not the queen of hip hop, but that's how it seems the media is trying to portray her.

actually she's a fraud for not have a flow that is authentic to her; has nothing to do with her being white. There are many white rappers who are authentic but their flow/delivery is their own. She also doesn't actually write her own lyrics, it's clearly ti's words and his flow being delivered by her. There's nothing real about her as a hip-hop artist; plus she's horrible at rapping. While hip-hop has moved from it's roots, it still embraces being able to freestyle and rhyme which is key to being considered a good hip-hop artist; she doesn't have that and is manufactured (see the videos i posted awhile back in this thread). The thing about hip-hop is that you can be whatever just be authentic to your own style/flow. I know of french rappers who are dope and respected in the hip-hop world but they don't try to pretend to be from the dirty; that would be lame and laughable. Why can't she just be an aussie who raps well (aside from the fact that she can't rap)?

This whole conversation was done a few pages back though. And, given the albums coming out in 2015, some of these fraud artists are going to be tested. J. Cole already called them out and it's about to be the trend, this year, to call out and challenge these appropriators.

+11111!!!!!!

Good post. Well said. I totally agree with everything.
I've been huge hip-hop fan for many years and it's more than annoying to hear Iggy categorised as hip-hop. No, she is pop, 100% pop.
I have rolled my eyes at her 'act' since the first time I heard her and I will continue to do so.

Iggy is no different than any of the other fraud artists out there right now. Look at Drake, hes the biggest fraud around. He was raised by a wealthy jewish mom, yet he raps about a lifestyle that hes never lived. None of these artists are hip hop, not even Nicki. Shes straight pop like all of these other manufactured money makers. Real hip hop died in the early 2000s

Drake has his own flow and writes his own lyrics and he's rapping about a lifestyle that he is living now. He's also got several albums under his belt. Not the same. Iggy is nothing but an attempt to force a white woman to be the face of the genre come hell or high water and if they have to fabricate her status in the hip hop community and hand her undeserved awards to do it that's what they're gonna do. If it weren't so obvious it wouldn't be so insulting.

I'm not a super fan of Drake, while I think he's soft, he's definitely not fraud. He writes his own lyrics, he has his own sound and what he raps about is nothing different from anyone else, rapping about their current lifestyle; a trend which Puff created. Nikki isn't pop, she's hip-hop but if you've never listened to her early work, you would only know her as pop. Her pop thing was to make money; she needed to be able to appeal outside of hip hop. As a woman, who raps, unfortunately that's what she had to do to gain her current level of exposure. The difference is that everyone in hip-hop knows that she can rhyme which is why she has features on actual hip hop songs where she's not doing that pop rap. Real hip hop actually hasn't died, it's just not played mainstream. Mainstream hip hop is a joke but then again, mainstream hip hop was always a joke anyway. I never really know what people consider hip hop until they tell me who they listen to because that's the gauge to which someone believes hip hop is mainstream, pop or true hip hop.

Which media? Definitely not hip-hop media. I would think that if someone were crowning someone the queen/king of hip hop, it should come from hip hop.

I haven't watched the Grammys since about 15 when I realized how much of a joke they are but I'm not sure why people think that the actual hip-hop community thinks that the Grammys are a representation of hip-hop. Macklemore is at least authentic in what he does and his Grammys are deserved, in that respect. Nicki does have a nomination this year.

Y'all going to stop trying to help sell this girl as hip-hop, just accept her as pop and stop.

Anaconda was nominated for Best Rap Song. :oh:

The Grammys don't have any credibility left after this year. Like, wtf!?

Had to go listen to some real hip-hop...and folks who think the day will come that Iggy can murder a track like this, can have several seats

(explicit)

See, for me she doesn't even have to be this good to be hip hop, she just needs to be authentic. She's not. That's good enough for her fans but don't try to slide real hip hop fans under that umbrella in an effort to make her look authentic.

100%. You and I are right there when it comes to her.
