If you can't afford diamond stud earrings....

If you want another pair of studs, how about the Tiffany's Elsa Peretti bean studs? Very timeless!
I also think a nice pair of modest hoops are very professional. No bigger than 1 inch and not the super thin ones.

Get a nice pair of small believable cz set in real gold. QVC is a good bet, I had Tiffany studs and lost one and now I am planning to replace with cz because I know they will get lost eventually.

I vote for hoops--in a smaller, more conservative size!

Honestly, I owned an expensive pair of Tiffany diamond stud earrings that I sold because I realized I'm just not a stud earring kind of girl. I need a little more earring, if you know what I mean. Studs aren't flattering on everyone.

On the otherhand, I get SO MUCH use out of these three pairs of small David Yurman hoops that I own...

There are plenty of affordable hoops in sterling or gold that you could find for under $300, including at QVC, as someone mentioned. Hoops are very very versatile.

I'm with Cosmo on this one......hoops are a staple. I would invest in a nice pair of medium sized hoops. Here are a few options:

John Hardy - $275

Jose & Maria Barrera - $240

Mark Spirito - $180

Kenneth Jay Lane - $70

How about some tiny diamond hoops...they are made of tiny diamonds, so no where NEAR as much as two large stones? My best friend got a gorgeous pair for around $250 from a jeweler...they still have tons of sparkle and are classy but still casual enough for every day wear!

You can try moissanite or diamonique studs. I've been noticing lately that alot of the models or actresses in magazines that look like they're wearing diamond studs are actually wearing moissanite studs.

I agree, I wear a pair of faceted clear quartz earrings that are exactly like my diamond studs for every day use and break out the goodies for ncie occassions. Even I can't tell a difference by looking at them. The quartz were about 30.00 and I get every penny out of them.

If you want diamond studs, don't look for one stone set in a claw etc. because they cost a fortune and you can never afford the size/quality you want.

I looked at Tiffany diamond studs and with AUD10,000 I could get something fairly nice. However, there is no way I could afford that much, so I kept looking around.

I found these: http://www.tiffany.com/Shopping/ite...h_params=t+cruciform-s+0-p+1-l+-h+-c+-r+165-x

tried them on, and they looked MUCH nicer then just one stone in each ear and are excellent quality stones. They cost AUD2800.

So, after all that rambling (!) I suggest looking at smaller diamonds set into a design rather than two big stones in a plain claw setting.

I would highly recommend simple gold hoops.

I have TONS of big time bling BUT one of my very longtime favorite pairs of earrings are from EternaGold on QVC. They are these little puffed hoops and only $100. J13287

They will NEVER DENT OR TARNISH. I have had mine for 10 years and they still look new. No joke. Also very light weight. They don't get in the way and they don't disappear. And won't poke you in the back of the head when you take a phone call.

And now you have $200 for a fabulous new handbag!!http://www.qvc.com/qic/qvcapp.aspx/...001-1544?cm_re=PAGE-_-BRANDSHOPS-_-ETERNAGOLD
