It's important to note, if it isn't clear, that the bag OP shows is not (1) very early or (1) that LV Gladstone.

I agree it is not the Gladstone but wonder if it is a similar style. The only strange thing about this bag is the inside looks too perfect. Age would cause some breakdown of the material. Yet this style bag seems like a strange style one would copy as a replica because i doubt there would be a big demand.

I totally agree, the inside is so crisp though I must admit I have not opened the bag when I saw it so the pic is all I can judge from. And on the other hand, the exterior really did feel like the speedy and papillon that I own and the wear and tear on the cowhide was very convincing. Have yet to see a fake with such spots. Also, I can't imagine the bag being fake because the owner was fairly old. I just wanted to know if the bag rang any bells with you guys. Thanks so much for all the kind replies.

Looking at all the pictures, there are some red flags about authenticity, even for a mid-20th century piece.
By the way, this bag wouldn't be older than the late 1950s because it features the more modern canvas.

Good luck with your investigation!

Anybody know the name of this vintage clutch? I have seen them before listed on eBay. I’m just not sure if it’s pre-80s because I can’t locate the date code. I’ve had other styles with the same treated leather materials and one had a date code and one didn’t. Typically the code is along the top by the zipper or on the inside on the near where the bottom of the zipper is.E3A008F0-7F29-4F00-B317-D0472C0AFDC9.jpeg236B7E2C-CD19-4394-B56D-9EF5670957B5.jpeg

I’m not asking for an authenticity check. I just want to know the name of this and if there is a date code.

It is not authentic, therefore, it has no name.

Can you provide reasoning for saying it’s not authentic? This is a vintage clutch. It’s very difficult to track down names of items that are vintage or pre-80s.

If you need authentication there are paid services. TPF authentication thread requires a live sale or auction.

There was a bag like this called the Pochette Sport, with a horizontal zipper on one side. Its proportions aren’t the same as the pic you posted, however.

I am not looking for authentication. I know this is authentic already. I collect vintage pieces. :) I have the sports clutch you are mentioning. I’m just trying to find out what the name of this smaller one is.

I’m cleaning closets and selling some older bags but I don’t know the name of these two and it would be helpful for me to try to set a price. Does anyone recognize them?
