Hi lovely Bal girls. i want to know if I have made a grave mistake quite a while ago by returning a lovely violet step bag to Fashionphile, which they don’t have any more, and then in desperation bought grape step from Vestiaire. Perfect, authentic, but I want to know if the colour is either faded or different. The serial number is identical to the one from FP below, the colour is grape ? Raisin ? ….

my question which drives me nuts is if FP was in real life when I got it the same as the colour from pics because I can’t remember if it was that gorgeous

or was it similar to the one I got recently (which I like too)

How is it that the serial number is identical for two different colours , or perhaps FP was also like that or this one is faded ????

please let me know whose serial number is this,

what is the name of the color …THANKS a lot

Style number is the same for all Step bags, Bal didn't do individual serial numbers. The older bags also didn't have colour codes so I can't help you based on the tag. The lighting in your pics is pretty warm, it might help if you took outdoor pics.

Thanks a lot !!! It is actually identical to my new “grape” shoulder so now I know, it is grape…..and the violet one from Fashionphile is gone forever. It was on Yoogi’s and on FP several times re-appearing , probably returned by few people, then I bought it and returned just because I was in a “sane” phase realizing that dark violet city is enough violet in purse closet, but never got over that beautiful step. This grape one had very similar photos to FP’s color and I do like it still but the FP one was the absolute beauty. BTW, strange, none of them have any darkening on the handles :)

How does your step compare to the shoulder? Is the step color less impressive than the shoulder?

Oh ? Thanks. I thought that raisin and grape are one, now I see … it is the dark violet (my favourite of all purples) which led me to violet being more blue than grape… thanks a lot for this tip
I thought the same thing as you, then I referred to the Colour Reference thread after reading @muchstuff's reply... and of course, they're correct as usual! :smartass:

I think, in 2009 raisin/grape are the same because of the French translation - unsure why it was grape/violet in 2007 and not grape/raisin/violet lol. :shrugs:

Easiest way is to take grape out of the equation entirely for the last two. Just grape/violet, sapphire, raisin. That's how they're generally referred as.
