What kind of things is this 12 year old interested in? A fashion fan might like a handheld or shoulder bag, whereas a outdoorsy or artsy type might like a crossbody bag.

when i was a pre-teen, my first "designer" bag was a dooney. they have some really adorable younger "prints", and their bags are really durable. plus, they have the 12 days of dooney right now, and you can get some fantastic deals!

lesportsac is totally cute too. durable and lightweight. as is kipling.

I guess all 12 YO are different but I would probably think Fossil or Kipling would be good bets.

What about a small Longchamps Pilage - I bet she would love that

Assuming she doesn't need to carry much with her, Coach poppy has some cute small bags. I think they are over $100 but if there is an outlet near you they will be on sale there.

If you live near a Coach outlet, then I suggest finding a bag at the outlet under $100. Some Coach styles are very girly, and smaller bags are priced below $100 on clearance.
