A seller on my local FB Marketplace has this purse listed with no style name. She says it's 20cm x 12cm x 5cm with a 110cm strap.

Am I right in thinking this is a Legacy Penny? I'm a bit confused because when I search online, two separate but similar bags called the Legacy Penny come up, one with a double leather clip-on strap, and one with a single leather permanent strap with a few cm on chain on each end.

Also, should this come with a tassel?

Thank you!

Hi everyone. I’m a newbie looking for help. I found this on EBay. Do you recognize? Wrong shape for a rambler and wrong size for a city bag, and wrong strap for a penny pocket. What is it?

Dimensions listed:
10 1/2” wide
6 3/4” high
2 3:4” deep

1 back slip pocket
2 interior pockets one in front under the flap. And one zip in the interior

What is it?

Thanks in advance

Looks like a pocket bag #9875. There is no such thing as a penny pocket.

Wow! Thank you so much!

I really love it but sadly I think it’s WAY overpriced on the EBay listing, especially for the condition. : (

But I’ll be on the lookout!
You're welcome. Everyone has their own comfort level. If I was selling it, I'd probably ask at least that much since it is a hard to find style in a great size. It should rehab nicely.

Thanks!

That’s good to know, I’m just a novice but it seems to be in rough shape for that price to me.

Is it a rare item? Do you know the year?

Thanks again for your time!
It was made in the early 90s. It would look a lot better after a rehab. It looks like the seller accepts offers.

I haven't seen very many of them. Most sellers don't know the style number so it is hard to search for them. I think it is pretty rare as I don't think very many people on the forum own one.

Another style to consider that is also hard to find is the spectator bag.

That is also a beautiful bag, but I am drawn to the slimmer profile of the pocket bag.

I was hoping that only those bags with the cult following like the Rambler were priced that high

It looks like this bag will not be mine right now…

I just recently got 2 new (not vintage) coach bags so I need to take a break right now. Thank you so much for all of your time and effort!

Hi and welcome  I’d like to chime in! I have this bag in red! It was a great find when I took a deep dive into vintage going back six years ago. I found a listing for a Pocket Bag early on and have always been fascinated with it! I thought it was the original Rambler too!
I have spent a lot time since then scouring listings online and listings for the PB do turn up regularly but are listed generically. I agree with whateve that most people selling them have no idea of the name. And this bag was made in smaller size with a different strap. And yes, there have always been overpriced vintage Coach listings, but it has become insane over the past few years. The deals seem to be few and far between, but they are out there. Good luck!
Have you been to the Vintage Catalog thread in the Reference Subforum?? Or the Vintage Bag thread in the Clubhouse Subforum?

Is this Coach Legacy Hobo black or grey?

I purchased this Coach Legacy Hobo on eBay. The seller listed it as grey. I’ve dunked it and thoroughly conditioned it using Leather Honey. I assumed it was black leather and just faded, given that (based on my basic research looking at the vintage catalogue scans on another thread), this style wasn’t manufactured in grey leather. But—I’m wondering if the fact that it has the X (which I understand means it was sold at a discount store like Marshall’s) means it might have been made in different color way for their stock?

Any thoughts? Is it just a faded black, or could it actually be grey? And if it’s the former, anything else I should do to help bring it back?

According to this catalog page, it also came in a color called smoke. I don't know if it would have had silver hardware. It looks gray in the pictures. The best way to tell is to look at the back of the inside pocket or any part that wasn't exposed as much to light and compare it to a Coach bag you know is black.

ETA: by 2001, the zipper fabric color usually matched the bag and that zipper looks gray, not black.

Thanks, @whateve ! I was thinking that the zipper looked grey, and I looked at the interior leather and the color seems consistent. Glad to know it’s not faded, but most likely “smoke”!

Hi, I purchased this at a consignment shop that was closing last week. Paid $27 (60% sale) for it. It’s a large backpack in good condition. It feels real, but I’ve never seen nickel hardware on a coach, nor a large backpack. I think a brief case is the largest coach item I’ve seen before.
When I searched the forum, I didn’t find anything like it.
No# H0S-5099
Dimensions
15” tall
16” wide
5- 1/4”wide bottom
It’s fully lined, and the back of the leather straps are lined with fabric.

Does this beast have a name ?
I Purchased with the intention of reselling it, but not if it’s counterfeit.
I’ve been able to find very little out about it. Hopefully someone has seen it before.
Thank you for looking at it, Tracy
