I was just wondering what kind if commission do Chanel SA receive?

TPF may earn a commission from merchant affiliate
links, including eBay, Amazon, and others

I used to work at Saks in Chanel handbags (I switched to real estate to have a family) and I can tell you that it's not 10%. Pay is done on a draw system ($10 an hour for instance) which means you have to make that in commission in order to get it. Otherwise you're in the whole and you need to make it up the next week. For Chanel handbags when I worked there commission was 6% (it is different for each department). Keep in mind too that if something is returned which it often is, that commission gets taken back. That's the way it works at Saks at least....hope that helps everyone wondering :D

Wow thanks for the intel! That still seems pretty good. 6% of $5000 is $300 and I assume you would sell several a week? Maybe that is the wrong assumption - we all think it is easy to sell these bags but maybe you don't get that many in inventory to sell that quickly. Is it the same percentage regardless the item or do some Max out? For example, if you sold a $30,000 exotic purse would you get 6% of the entire cost? No wonder the SAs try to save the popular items like the So Blacks!

It all adds up in the boutiques that do a lot of business, like southern California and Vegas (to just name two). Remember there is RTW also, which is pretty much $5k and up (one item can cost $10-20k, and an outfit can be twice that) as well as fine jewelry. Add in exotics, bags, accessories to toss in those bags, shoes, and the ticket adds up quickly, especially if you have regular customers.

While I think as long as they work hard and give a good quality of service, they deserve the money. But my thought is they don't deserve that amount if they don't give that quality of service expect of them.

That's crazy though. You would think ppl making such a high salary would be more educated and courteous towards all clients. I think the hardest part of their jobs is getting the bag, selling is not that difficult or such a long process. It's makes me kinda upset that an most SA get that much and offer no real value. If I knew they made that much I have demanded that my last bag not arrive crushed lol!!
