I know it's overpriced but...

I waited 3 years for a bag that I loved, and missed out on, to appear on the resale market. During that time I wasted money on buying something else that I didn’t love, just to fill the void (same bag, just a different colour). The holy grail finally showed up this week on a resale site. I could have waited it out hoping for a price markdown if it sat too long. But, I had waited long enough and it was a price I was comfortable with (thanks to having decluttered and sold some things earlier this year). So I bought it that day. It should arrive next week.

My advice is to hold out for the one you really want. Either time passes while you wait and maybe your taste changes, perhaps saving you $$ in the end. Or eventually you’ll get the one you love.

This really only works of you are dealing with a price point you’re already comfortable spending (but just need to save up for). For example, my endgame real true dream bag is a Chanel So Black reissue. But, I’ll never spend that kind of money on a bag, EVER. So I’m not going to bother saving for it or waste time and energy searching for it, trying to replace it with something else, etc. I consider the So Black like seeing a piece of art in a gallery, rather than buying the art to take home.

This really makes a lot of sense and is a good way to look at the big picture. :yahoo:

Contemplating buying a bag I know is overpriced simply because I don't have the patience to wait for a better deal elsewhere. Am I alone in this? Layaway is also available on this particular site which is an attractive option. I know some of you out there are very disciplined but have any of you ever settled for a higher price in order to use layaway?
So here’s why you should never listen to me, yesterday and all last week I swore off bags, stopped searching for them stopped looking at them on the forum and was seriously considering selling part of my collection. Last night DH went to bed early and so did the dogs, I was left alone with Netflix and my iPad, well the universe had a good laugh at my expense, The Row bag I have been seeking our for years will be delivered on next week NWT OMG!
Life is short buy that bag.

I hate buying on-line full stop.

I'm still catching-up with a credit note on Hermes.com that can't apparently be spent in 2 of the 5 Hermes stores in London, and can't communicate effectively with different 'reputable' French site that have my money but can't be asked to email me to confirm and ship. Right at this moment I am vowing to never buy anything, anywhere new or pre-loved that I can't see, touch, feel and smell whist in front of me.

Shopping should not be this hard.

Would I keep paying for an item that was sitting under someone else's roof? They'll have your money and the item. IM(recent)E my trust is burned.

Blooming hell, Hermes used to be so on top of things... But hey, do not despair, I bought mom a Burberry wallet as an Xmas gift, in early November, guess what, no confirmation, nothing... Seems to be a rather common problem atm
