it really wasn't detective work ghall,
you just seemed like an active poster
but didn't really recognize your name
first thing i would do is search threads started
i swear
thats about all i did, after i clicked the first thread which i linked above
i pretty much stopped there

i didn't mean to offend you, just asking because i was curious
no problem. 2000 of my 3000 was in the coach forum :)

you'd think i'd notice :push:

but really, there are maybe a few names i recognize but mainly it is because i've had interactions with them

also, i don't read every thread here, :s only the ones i post in usually (can't seem to keep my mouth shut so i always reply even if its a thank you for sharing, etc)

for a minute i thought you were a frequent member of another sub-forum (like bal) who just brought a coach here or there and got a letter

Sorry you got it too. Makes me wonder, honestly, if there is some glitch or something - my numbers are grossly inflated - sounds like yours are too, ghall. I left a message with the person today. They did call back but I wasn't here. Going to try again Monday.

If that letter got faxed to all the stores I shop at, I will be absolutely mortified! I would be DONE! It's like slander! I feel the exact same way the poster's friend a page back did, like a criminal.

Your letter will be on file at the stores in your area. They're instructed to present it to you if you try to return a bag without a receipt. Hopefully you'll get a call back and get the issue resolved soon.

I wonder if they also include bags that are sent in for repair (without receipt) that cannot be fixed. If you get full credit or the 40% coupon, maybe Coach is also including that in the return count:shrugs:.

This policy is disturbing IMO. I understand that Coach can set whatever policy they want, but I don't understand the benefit of rubbing salt into the wound by presenting the customer with a copy of the letter at cashwrap. How humiliating. Why not just tell the customer, in a discreet professional manner, that their return is denied and the reason why? I'd hope that the SAs and managers would show some discretion in such a sensitive transaction, although the OP in last month's "letter" thread described an experience that was less than discreet.

once the customer has the letter they should know, so if they continue to persist then it's a matter of giving the customer another copy. I don't think they would always just give the letter. some would verbally refuse I'd think, and only use the letter like some would use a business card to refer to when someone has a problem or is not satisfed/unbelieving because the letter has the LP number

and no, you don't need a receipt for repairs but repairs don't get taken in as returns--they're done on clienttrack and the twenty dollars they charge you with is on POS that just is basically selecting twenty dollar tab for shipping repairs. ;)

Thanks for this info. Unless the issue is rectified, and an apology sent to me and THAT letter faxed to the stores then I am disgusted and DONE! I literally feel ill right now. You know the SA will be discussing it behind my back and saying who knows what! I deal with several stores, depending on who has what I want. I have done NOTHING wrong. I have not returned eight bags without a receipt and the two that were returned were handled within the guidelines as stated in COACH"S return policy. No money ever left the company. I was more than happy with store credit and in fact paid over and above the credit for another bag in both instances.

OP, hypothetically speaking, even if you had returned 2000 bags without receipts - you still did nothing wrong IMO, because if they don't like people doing it, they should not allow it in the 1st place. Their "policy" is absolutely crazy and should be illegal - as some have said, it is slanderous and embarassing. If it wasn't for customers, they wouldn't exist. This is a lousy way to treat their most valuable asset.

Funny how they are getting the numbers wrong.
Could they be including some transactions one wouldn't necessarily think were returns?

Like how does Coach handle items the customer buys and then gifts to someone, but then that person returns the item with the gift receipt? How would it be entered into the computer?

Or maybe the SAs are handling some transactions incorrectly (like they are apparently doing with the damaged items). Maybe when they do price adjustments or some other transactions?

Just trying to guess what is going wrong with these people who got the letter, but don't deserve it.

But I agree, I would not be buying from a Coach store if this info came up whenever I bought something there.

liberal policy that has a letter if abused. returns without receipts policy was added just in case gift receipts weren't asked for and the receipient (sp) didn't like. it is for emergency instances when you don't have one because you lost it--not multiple times.

whether the numbers are right or wrong it's not for us to speculate

I'm sorry that that has happened to you, I am, personally I have not seen much letters issued to customers--quite a few of them have had to return once or twice because they misplaced their receipts but that rarely happens. some might get bags as a gift--they haven't received a letter from what I've heard/seen.

what did happen one time that striked a cord so I so remember despite my faulty memory, is this lady and her husband and four year old came in, with a bunch of "jewelry" that totaled fifteen pieces. all with the display sticker inside she said she got as a gift--without any of the pouches or boxes, they were stored in a plastic bag and she wanted to exchange or get money back, actualy she asked for money back first if I remember correctly.

I did a lot of returns when I just starting buying coach. They were all impulse buys and if I remember correctly. Yes, I remember, I have only returned two items without receipt. I stopped returning long time ago and now I really REALLY pay attention to what I buy to avoid returning. This is not only about Coach but for every single thing I buy.

Yeah Ghall, I remember when you found out the gift cards you have given to your little ones to play with still had some credit. Cha-chin!!!! I can't believe they send you the letter but I am glad you are not banned from buying from there. Although I have to be honest, with all that Minkoff and Jacobs in your collection I would not even care :shame:

I don't even know what to say anymore. All I know is I want a full breakdown of all my "returns" and then an apology when they realize they were wrong - because them being wrong is the only possible outcome when all the evidence is brought to the fore, that is how positive I am.
