Hey ladies, I'm new to the board but I work at Coach (it sounds like ms whitney does too! *waves*).
The 25% off is actually a moreso random list of customers given to the store by corporate. The list does contain top customers and as a thank you, Coach repeatedly sends this card to them. For thank you notes, the SA must enter your name/address into the computer at the end of the sale to technically write them. I know I personally work with a few lazy people who skip this step so they don't have to write them but always have the SA put your name into the computer to show you are a Coach customer and they can contact you for events and such.
I know the past event was such a random list of customers who have never even recieved one before and also some who didn't want them and only ever wanted that one wallet.
Also, to be honest- it does help to stick with one or two SA's, they get to know you and in the event they notice you're not on the list for the event- they will make it a point to send you one and give you a call. I know I just personally did this with one of my loyal customers, so it does help to be loyal and not just randomly go in everytime not knowing anybody.
