Couldn't they just have launched "Bal Logo Mania Jeunesse by Demna" and let a grown-up oriented designer handle the main designing? It would have been perfect for rejuvenating the brand and then letting it spill over on to the main label at a less upsetting rate.
Or maybe Gvasalia actually thinks he is truly being innovative and arty farty. Or he's just being his own goofy kitty and puppy loving self? The messages he's writing on his Valentine items for example are really quite uplifting and positive. If he was just full of disdain for his customers, would he write those kinds of messages about love, following your dreams etc?
Having said that, I'm really upset with Bal for taking away the original City strap, exchanging it for a long one. Bad Bal! Bad! And now you're not making the Bazar cardholder in this season's Bazar colours?!
I have a really good conspiracy theory
Demna Gvasalia worked with Nicolas Ghesquière at Louis Vuitton. They had some sort of falling out. Now Demna has sworn to take revenge by destroying the Nicolas Ghesquière legacy, moto item by moto item.
Someone at Bal literally told me that I should be aware that "it could be possible" that their new artistic direction managed by Demna Gvasalia would choose to not spread models from their previous artistic director Nicolas Ghesquiere in their stores.
To not see the iconic value for Bal in the moto line is sale and marketing idiocy. How many bags, like the City, stay relevant for this long?!
