Ok, I wana say thanks to Dragonette for the inspiration, TygerKitty for starting the thread and vtfroggie for the link. I got the hooks today (i ordered on Monday night) so they ship pretty fast. The quality of the hooks and split rings are pretty good. I ordered the 1/4" Snap Hook-1 3/4" long nickel plate and 1/2" split rings in both colors

Here is the picture to compare the sizes

Although the hooks looks smaller than Original Coach hooks, they work well on my Felicia- the biggest chain of all my Coach purse. Im not going to hang the watermelon on my Felicia, but this picture is just for comparison.

I didn't even think of getting the split rings. I just ordered the dog leash clips. Now I just placed a second order to get the split rings. I haven't received my first order yet. Hopefully soon.

:nuts: I was looking for the snap hooks at the website and let me tell you they are OUT OF STOCK...:nuts:

Im so disappointed! I took out some of my self made fobs today and i realized the color of the brass snap hook and the split ring looked very different. I think because of oxidation, the split ring have became more yellow the the difference in color is very obvious. The nickel ones are okay. Now i have to search for new split rings

I'm glad that you found the website suggestion useful. I completely missed this post back in October after I had posted the first time. The use of a split ring is a great idea, I may have to go back and order me some of the smaller ones too!
As for the brass snap hook vs. split ring color, that kind of sucks. I haven't ordered any of the brass hooks b/c all of my fobs have had nickel hardware. Let us know if you find any split rings that match the snap hooks.

I got a keychain ring like the ones on the cell charms and added it to the skull then added the clasp. It looks good!! I also did the same to the pink patent picture fob. The keychain rings cost $.20 each.

what size of the brass snap hooks do we need to order from cdwplus.com if we want it to clip on the large ring (that the shoulder strap attaches to)?
