I can make my own charms too!

These are the ones I used, I'll be searching online now I think and measure the ones that come with the Coach fobs to see if I can get them more appropriately sized.

Hey there ladies! I just wanted to share another source for fob snaps/dog leash clips. I was searching online a few weeks ago b/c my local hardware stores didn't have any in the size I wanted (they were all huge) and the ones at hobby lobby were a little bit too big for my liking. I finally came up with this: http://www.cdwplus.com/index.html
I ordered 5 of the smaller dog leash clips and they arrived within a couple of days. I thought the quality was pretty good and they were in a size that I like. Plus, shipping is free!

I did that to my skull fob too, and I have to admit I'm such a dork I put two of them together so that when it flips it always shows the silver skull! I didn't glue them or anything..just let them hang freely, but it really helps because mine ALWAYS flip over to the plain side which drives me nuts!! Of course you have to have two of the same charm, and I did, lol!

Thanks so much for this link and quality assessment!! What I've found have also been a tad larger than I like...they are either too small or too big. I'll have to order some. I was afraid to try that because even the ones you get at flea markets sometimes fall apart, but I'm glad to hear these are ok!!

lisa, i wonder if we glue the lobster clasp down so it doesn't swivel, would that solve the flippin' problem?

Hi, I don't spend a lot of time here since I am more of a shoe gal than bag gal. But I wound up picking up a Coach bag over the summer since I couldn't stop thinking about the floral bags I had seen when I visited family in California. So, I wound up with a Pouch via ebay since I missed the online at Macys by about 4 days, one day they had them, the next they were gone & turning up on ebay. It's a really pretty bag, but the strap is too short for shoulder carry & I really need to be able to use my bags on the shoulder. So I just today added a length of jewellery chain that I picked up at Joann Fabrics yesterday (so that I can finally carry it). I thought about coming here to see what more fanatical Coach gals would think & it really seems to match into this thread. I took some pictures & it even has removeable flower, leaf & watch fobs that I also got at Joann to fit with the floral & gold theme of the bag (They are a product by Blue moon beads called 'lost and found'.)

So, I guess let me know what you think.

Anyway, if you want to look for clips and things like this online, the best keywords are 'jewellery findings'. Another site that probably has supplies is www.firemountaingems.com.

I love the little fobs that are on the chain! I have definitely wished I could do this to a few of my bags but, alas, they weren't the ones with the closures to possibly adjust them at all!

Well, I guess that answers my question on whether other's would think changing it to a shoulder bag is a little 'blasphemous'. I was actually looking around TJ maxx for anything inexpensive with a matching detacheable shoulder strap to use when I realized I could do the chain thing. So, off the the fabric store - I'm way worse about fabric stores than I am about bags, but probably almost as bad with shoes as with fabric/sewing. I actually should do more of that craft & sewing thing - it gives me less time to window shop.
