I am concerned that Coach is knowingly selling flawed bags for the same price!

TPF may earn a commission from merchant affiliate
links, including eBay, Amazon, and others

I think the aggressive discounting at the outlets, as well as the mff goods and the selling of irregulars at the outlets (without marking them irregulars) will end up cheapening the coach brand and will cannibalize and hurt their fp sales in the long run.

Coach needs to remember that if the outlets get a reputation for selling cheap, inferior goods, then eventually that reputation will affect the brand as a whole.

Well said!!

I have never had any dealings with the manager at the outlet at the great mall in Milpitas CA, but their customer service is great. When customers are looking for any handbag they always check in the back to see if there are anymore and are always so helpful.

I just don't understand why people are so rude when you are spending your hard earned money. The manager should be happy to have a job.

I totally agree with you about their MFF goods, I have bought older styles on ebay and they are made alot better than their MFF now. I only go to the outlet to buy wristlets and key fobs now.

I feel your pain! I got home and realized my embossed exotic maggie was missing the jewel handtag. When I emailed customer service they basically said tough bananas. They told me to return it or deal with it.

This is nuts! I'll bet you anything if some quality issue like this happened years and years ago, when the overall quality of Coach seemed to be in its prime, it would have been almost TABOO! Now this blase attitude by SAs and CS in general is a little concerning. As customers we should not have to feel nervous or afraid to point out a flaw or ask for help locating a FP delete, or whatever issue we might have! I don't have any outlets near me, so I don't experience this on that level, but I can picture myself in any scenario and it would rob me the joy of shopping for discounted Coach if I had to worry about dealing with all that.

I can't believe that those bags were not clearly marked defective; that's very misleading.

I saw the large dotted Sophia with the upside-down lozenge yesterday. SA was helping a customer, they went over to the shelf and picked up another one and it sounded like the other one also had the upside-down lozenge. I'm not sure who had noticed it first, SA or customer, but clearly the SA was aware of it. Not sure if the request or offer was made for additional discount to mark it Final Sale because I didn't linger to find out, but I agree that they should have been marked Final Sale anyway, not left up to a customer to find and negotiate. The bag eventually ended up back on the shelf.

Bravo katev for contacting Coach Corporate about your experience!

Wow, Katev that is just horrible. Aurora is my outlet as welland it is truely hit or miss with the service there. But knowingly selling those without disclosing it somewhere on the bag is unacceptable. You should post your story on Coach's facebook page as well. I know people have gotten results with issues when posting it there. Post it on their discussion tab. Just a thought. Hopefully I don't run in to the "special" SA...*coughs* I mean the "special" bag.

Thanks, I will wait to see if I get a reasonable response from CS; but if that avenue doesn't work I will try facebook next. Good idea!

I guess I was always under the assumption that items that were irregular were more likely to end up at the outlets (for any store, not just Coach). I think they should have offered an extra % off for the irregularity (I've noticed Coach do this in the past at various outlets and mark it as a final sale item), but I don't think that Coach should have not put the bags on the floor b/c of the upside down logo. This is why I do my best to thouroughly check over anything purchased from an outlet store, Coach or other. Honestly, the upside down logo wouldn't automatically make me think it was a cheap knock-off, nor would I expect extreme discounted pricing because of it, but that's just me.
I do agree though, the SA could have responded to the situation better.

What IS it with the badges being upside down? I saw this on a wallet at Dillards some time ago.
Makes you wonder how quickly they are being "handcrafted" (pshhh, yeah!) and churned out. I am disgusted at this story, OP, to say the least!
Coach just seems to keep turning into just another brand...The people who want quality are going to move on to another brand if they do not fix this. :(

Coach FP stores do send "irregular" bags and items to the Outlet. They are required to put a tag on them discribing what is wrong with the item. I have in fact been to the outlet and seen bags that still have the "irregular" tags on them and they usually are additionally maked down...for example....there was a overnight leather duffle bag that was tagged "irregular". It did mention the handle had a snap that had come off of it, but was discounted because of it. From FP stores if there is a defect in items, we put a "as is" tag on it annd sent it to the outlet too! These tags usually are still on the items when sold at the outlet too!
