How would you describe your jewellery style?

I don’t really have a style. I’m a typical, working-class Englishwoman, and I wear the jewellery to match. Go anywhere in England, and I can almost guarantee you’ll see a woman wearing similar jewellery to me. I wear earrings; gold hoops (three pairs), gold curb chains (two), gold bracelets (two) and gold rings (normally at least nine). Also, a nose stud or nose ring and a watch. I do branch out if I’m in the mood and wear more delicate jewellery - but that’s quite rare.

That's also very on-trend globally. Fashion has caught up ;)

Really enjoying this thread and learning about everybody's style

This is such a great thread! When I was younger, I was all about minimalism and clean lines/no jewelry. I only wanted a simple eternity band for an engagement ring.

Now that I’ve just turned 50, I developed an interest in scarves and jewelry (I guess I need more bling to be noticed LOL). I’ve always wondered why people like to get recognizable styles like logos. With jewelry people seem focused on popular pieces like Love bracelets or Al-Hambra necklaces and other pieces that many people have. I love to feel that my jewelry is unique to me (even though I know it’s really not!) and appreciated by people that love those things. For example my husband just surprised me with a strand of Mikimoto Reserve pearls. I’m not a pearl expert, but they were so special I fell in love as soon as I opened the box, and I know that not many have them. I hate branding so I hide the Mikimoto charm so it can’t be seen. I don’t mind the Mikimoto clasp since people don’t see it under my hair.

Perhaps it’s a style evolution thing and as I get further down the curve I will appreciate branding and popular items more, the way I eventually evolved into scarves and jewelry?

I can appreciate some of the logos for the beauty of the design but always feel if I am like a walking advertising, I should be paid not pay the company, we are not too far apart in age, so that's not the issue, I think the pieces I want to wear should flatter me, no matter if it is clothes or jewelry, if they flatter me, I don't care if a lot of other people have it, if they don't same thing, doesn't matter how "in" it is, I firmly believe we should always wear clothes and jewelry, not the other way round. The good thing about middle age is that you simply don't give a damn anymore!

If I had to sum my whole aesthetic in one phrase:
Layered

I have minimalist pieces that I wear every day - a simple etoile cross and pair of diamond studs. I will, depending on my day, add a bold vintage lucite necklace or strands of pearls, cuff bracelets, a stack of bangles or a multi-strand bracelet - and sometimes later a vintage watch with them. I’ll change out earrings with jackets, change them for hoops or vintage clips. And brooches. If the outfit can support them, all the brooches!

When I add to my minimalist set, the pieces are bold and prominent.

My style could be described as colourful and bold.

I love colourful gems and mixing metals, my two favourite pieces are my silver & lavender jade spiked cuff and my RG diamond & tourmaline ring.

Prior to covid, my daily jewelry consisted of a WG & RG diamond choker, a RG diamond cuff on one wrist and the silver jade cuff on the other and a platinum band with yellow sapphires and rubies.

I don't really switch up my jewelry based on outfits because I started seeing them as a part of a uniform of sorts and each piece has meaning as I designed them with a purpose. The only times I'll switch things up is if I want a dressier look, then I'll swap the jade cuff for a dress watch and add in my YG malachite cufflinks.

One of the WAGs in the area wanted the vet to pierce the ears of her mini dog so she could give it diamond studs, it was about 2 years ago, I could tell that the vet was not very impressed through the door, some words like "You know they aren't fashion accessories and if you would walk her more and give her less treats, she would look better and be healthier, I am not going to pierce the ears of a dog so you can put earrings in and the dog might rip them out while scratching, I don't need to create more business this way!" When I went in after she stormed out he was a bit red in the face, I love our vet, he doesn't mess about and tells people who want cats declawed or ears and tails altered for a "look" exactly where to go.
I think it is illegal to dock tails/ears and declaw cats in Europe and I would think piercing a dog's ears would also be in that category.

I would describe my jewelry style as „rather noticeable, yet acceptable“! My job and my age allow me a bit of extravagance and I use this freedom. As I don't wear costume jewelry, my style is perhaps anyway more discret than the style of ladies around me. By the way, men don't usually notice my jewelry, only women react to it.

Classic, dainty and minimalistic.
I have the same jewellery in silver and gold
I don’t mix metals - if I wear handbags with gold hardware then my jewelry is gold. Silver or white gold jewellery with silver hardware.

I wear the same jewellery everyday, but switch metals depending on my handbag and accessories.
Every now and then I may switch it up and wear a different delicate necklace for example my dainty diamond heart necklace or drop earrings or huggies (they are still classic, minimalistic and dainty). I consider these my “fun” jewellery pieces, the only thing is a lot of these pieces don’t come in silver or white gold. There’s more choice for gold so struggling to find silver or white gold equivalent.

To get more of an idea on my style
Stud earrings
DBTY necklace (the smallest carat as I prefer the daintiest)
Delicate bracelet
Delicate (tiny minimalistic) rings

I don’t like recognizable items such as Cartier love bracelet or that other Cartier one (forgot the name). I do like Van Cleef

Wishlist
- Van Cleef earrings - going for white gold (the smaller option) as I have more fun earrings in gold. Won’t buy gold equivalent as I have more gold earrings plus due to affordability.
- Rolex watch in silver band (Exception here I want a mixed band cheaper watch for gold jewellery, going for mixed as I don’t like full on gold band watch)

It’s been all over the map over the years. Was totally into Pandora and the arm party thing years ago, and now nothing on my wrists except for my new Longines automatic watch.

But I guess the consistent theme is that I enjoy experiences with my jewelry. While visiting Ireland, I had to stop at Thomas Dillon’s shop in Galway to get a claddagh ring...it’s the oldest maker of claddagh rings. And in a Vietnam market, I had two shopkeepers push a jade bangle (just a cheapie, not like the beauties on the jade thread) over my knuckles...my hand was bruised for weeks but it was a great memory and I wore the bangle 24/7 for months. On the anniversary of my mom’s passing, I summoned her strength to get a daith piercing that I wanted but was nervous about the pain.

I also like wearing items 24/7 so it has to be comfortable. All my piercings are by body jeweller makes so I can sleep in them. Lately I’ve been enjoying finding new independent designers instead of buying brands.

Oh i
Minimalist and classic. Pearls and diamonds mostly. I have a few go to pieces and love them because they are delicate yet add that extra oomph to outfits without screaming “look at me!” I also have a delicate diamond initial necklace with my kids’ initials that my husband gave me this year. I love this piece!
Oh I’d love to see a photo of your initial necklace

I’m also trying to create an everyday uniform of some sorts. It takes a lot of time & research to add something to my main every day collection. I want things I absolutely adore so I really WANT to wear them daily

I totally understand what you mean! I spent months and even years in deliberation with regards to the designs of the pieces. It always helps when you figure out what type of items you truly enjoy wearing.

I used to worry a bit about wearing bolder pieces but I’ve become more comfortable with doing so over the years. My jewelry pieces tend to now more fully reflect this change perspective over time.

This is a very interesting thread and I'm enjoying reading all the responses. I'm all over the board so I would say its eclectic. I tend to mix classic and edgy, designer and costume. My wardrobe is very similar. You may see me in cashmere and diamonds or leather and faux fur or a combo of all.

For example: On Sat I was wearing Jcrew classic leggings with a cashmere sweater, over the knee boots and a moto jacket. I wore silver bangles, my vca bracelet, chanel diamond necklace and diamond earrings. Sometimes I switch the earrings out to my favorite pair of costume hoops with little pearl flowers. My jewelry is not "big" but I do stack my wrists, wear a ring on each hand (left is my wedding ring and right is a bolder ring usually on my pointer) and a watch. I always wear one necklace (never layered) and a pair of earrings (though I have 2 holes, my second hole closed)

That same weekend, I also wore a chanel tweed jacket, jeans, and boots with pearl earrings, a VCA magic pendant and a stack of leather bracelets. All over the board but (hopefully) put together!
