I wear what makes me happy. Usually that entails keeping it simple for the sake of comfort, and it's hard to go wrong with minimals. But I wear it for myself and not for others.

For example, once for yoga class, I wore a ring on literally every finger so I had lots of things to look at when holding long poses. I'm absolutely certain that was not stylish by a long shot but it kept me entertained!

Minimalist. I want a platinum claddagh ring for my engagement/wedding ring - not a diamond ring.

I have a rise-gold Victorian heart. They were an English variation of the Claddagh (Ireland) and the Lockenbooth (Scotland). I think they're the perfect for an E-ring or wedding band.

It was a present from my mother when I was about 12, and used to have seed pearls set in the heart but they kept falling out so she had rubies set instead. I still wear it, but now on my little finger.

When my mother was in hospital she obviously didn't wear good stuff, so bought her a silver lockenbooth pendant and chain. That made her really happy. Sometimes, it's not the most expensive pieces of jewellery that give us the most pleasure.

But don't they hurt, like when your doing reverse-prayer or head-stand.

When I forget to take mine off beforehand , they kill me.

Engagement parrot. Not exactly understated (this bird "states" plenty), but goes with everything.

I love parrots, such clever birds, but most of them trigger horrible asthma attacks, something about their dander that seems to rub my immune system the wrong way and I start wheezing and gasping for air, a kindergarden trip to the zoo and the bird house ended up with A&E, it's a bit of a bummer since I always loved them.

What a magnificent bird, no Cartier or VCR could compete for beauty

One of the WAGs in the area wanted the vet to pierce the ears of her mini dog so she could give it diamond studs, it was about 2 years ago, I could tell that the vet was not very impressed through the door, some words like "You know they aren't fashion accessories and if you would walk her more and give her less treats, she would look better and be healthier, I am not going to pierce the ears of a dog so you can put earrings in and the dog might rip them out while scratching, I don't need to create more business this way!" When I went in after she stormed out he was a bit red in the face, I love our vet, he doesn't mess about and tells people who want cats declawed or ears and tails altered for a "look" exactly where to go.

I don’t really have a style. I’m a typical, working-class Englishwoman, and I wear the jewellery to match. Go anywhere in England, and I can almost guarantee you’ll see a woman wearing similar jewellery to me. I wear earrings; gold hoops (three pairs), gold curb chains (two), gold bracelets (two) and gold rings (normally at least nine). Also, a nose stud or nose ring and a watch. I do branch out if I’m in the mood and wear more delicate jewellery - but that’s quite rare.
