I visited my Cartier SA last week & he said my jewellery is quite “put together” & I think he’s right! I only stack 2 dainty complimentary bracelets 24/7, both in RG (thin Love & single DBTY) & a high end watch on my other wrist either in RG or SS. I tend to wear just 1 necklace depending on the neckline of my top. I do however, mix metals & designers. I also mix high end with good quality plated jewellery. I do confess that when I’m buying high end I tend to stick to the well known & “safe” collections - Love, Cartier, JUC etc

How would you describe your jewellery style?

I am usually minimalistic, to wearing very little to almost none, however I do have the odd statement piece, my old dentist in Germany has started out as a goldsmith and then moved into dentistry and dental research, he now makes jewelry as a hobby and to switch off from teeth and dental problems, we are still in touch via the internet (used to visit him when I was back in Munich for a little chat) and sometimes I get an idea what I would like and we discuss it, and depending on his availability he makes it, might sometimes be a year waiting, but he is truly amazing, he was the best dentist I ever had, but I think he could make a ton more designing and making fine jewelry, the stuff is like his dental work, totally and utterly flawless and with such attention to detail....

I guess I'm aiming for a sophisticated jewelry style. I stay away from cutesy hearts, bows, flowers--also any nature/organic motifs really (looking at you Alhambra). I try to keep it elegant by focusing instead on simple geometric designs: circle, round, square, rectangle, diamond-shaped, cylinder, occasional oval or pear.

I think your style is very classy Louish.
being a guy, I keep a minimalist style as much as possible.
I love classic designs both branded and unbranded.
one ring, one bracelet and my one and only Longines watch.

saying that I quite like seeing other people stacking their rings and bracelets

I think my jewelry style is pretty forgettable, to be honest. I stick to predictable pieces that fly under the radar, and except for my earrings, I don't change it up much. And about those earrings: I have a sizeable collection of them, but none of them are particularly flashy.

That said, I absolutely love every piece I own and always feel like a million bucks when I wear each one. So I'm boring, but thrilled by it.

Like papertiger I would say my jewellery style is quite variable. I tend to choose pieces in either yellow or white gold/platinum and stick to tried and tested styles that suit me, however there is no one specific look that I go for. I’m really loving drop earrings and rings at the moment and so my necklaces and bracelets are a little neglected. Prior to this I was in a big bracelet phase.

I used to favour mainly Cartier and Tiffany for brands and my local jeweller for non-branded pieces in gold or platinum, still do, but am enjoying trying out newer (to me anyway) designers now as I get older and my jewellery style and taste evolves.

Hey, whatever makes you happy, my earrings apart from a few necklaces that I inherited and my engagement necklace (we skipped the ring as I fell in love with a necklace with a teardrop opal and matching earrings from an estate sale, totally Art Deco and 20 years on still totally in love with them) tend to be the more eye catching pieces, but then with my hair, tiny studs would get lost, I can do the pearls and diamond studs, but it isn't really me, I think whatever works for a person and their personal style is fine

I skipped the engagement ring too. I got an engagement parrot instead. I tend to go the "less is more" route when wearing a bird.

I’d like my jewelry to reflect my personality and my aesthetic. It’s a work in progress; definitely eclectic; often unmatched pieces. I also mix high and low stuff, including base metal (one of my favorite necklaces is a Miguel borrocal torso pendant made of brass on either a hardware store key fob lanyard or a choker from Etsy. It pairs well with Belperron corne earrings from Verdura Belperron). I’ve told every SA, jewelry has to meet a few criteria: I want stuff that looks like it belongs on me (that I could have worn it forever and doesn’t look new); stuff that plays well with other favorite pieces in my collection; and, stuff that’s comfortable to wear. Although I like the look of stacking bracelets and necklaces on other people, I think my personal style favors one large piece (No clanking or clicking noise) Although I’m short, I am medium build with broad shoulders and I think bigger pieces look better. If I’m feeling minimal, I don’t wear any.
