How/where do you report website/shops/sellers of fakes/counterfeits?

TPF may earn a commission from merchant affiliate
links, including eBay, Amazon, and others

ICE usually deals with this. Here is their website: http://www.cybercrime.gov/reporting.htm

You can contact a local field office or report a crime through the link. Here is another link that gets into detail about why it's illegal to sell counterfeit goods:

If it's one thing that REALLY irks my nerves, it's people who buy fake items and carry/wear them around like they're all that! I could go into a lecture about this, but I won't. It's nice to see proactive people who see counterfeit selling as NOT OK and are willing to do something about it. :ban:

A list is needed but you need to be certain it is a fake. I took the bag(s) to the designer boutique and was told they were fake so IU wiuld gladly list where I purchased them. I sent 3 back. They are returning 1 and refunding less a "restocking fee"

Hi, I just bought a counterfeit Lanvin tote on eBay and I tried to contact the seller that I want to return the item. Of course, the reaction of the seller was " you just insulted me by saying that i sell fake items and I don't take returns" well anyway, I tried to be civil about the situation but the seller is not cooperating. I want to file a complaint but I need a written confirmation that the item indeed is fake. Who can help me with this?

I am an eBay seller and can confidently tell you that the seller can say what she wants, bottom line is; your purchase is covered by the eBay buyer protection program. You don't need to waste your time going back and forth with her, as she will stick to her story.
Just open a case, choose the option that says the item is a counterfeit (don't choose the "not as described"). And briefly explain your situation. Make sure you let customer support know that she is not willing to help you. eBay is a buyer oriented market and I'm 99.9% sure you will receive a full refund, no matter what the seller states. If you wish you can send me a private message and I will walk you through it. No worries you will have your money in no time. ;)

Thank you very much pazza4sacamain. Now I feel a little better. Don't I have to wait for at least 10 days to file ? It is so sad and upsetting why do some people to these kinds of business. It is just not fair to the buyers and the sellers who are honest. Well, pazza4sacamain, I will surely need your assistance as soon as I file my complaint on eBay. Btw, I can't pm you here since I just joined the forum. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx.

Please post eBay topics/issues in our eBay forum :tender:
Also, this thread was not intended for authenticity questions. People will not respond quickly or thoroughly here as this is not on topic for this thread.

You are welcome! No, you don't have to wait. Actually, the sooner you do it, the better. People do this kind of things because they are either ignorant or law-breaking citizens, or perhaps both! x

When I tried to notify eBay in the past I had received a counterfeit dress, they only seemed to care about fulfillment, the seller could prove I received the item so my claim was denied, no investigation into my claim that the foods were counterfeit. This was years ago though so I don't know if the procedures have improved. I did get my money back from the seller on my own by sending drafts of letters to US Customs and Chloe informing them the seller was selling counterfeit merchandise including the seller's return address.

The link does not work: "We are sorry, but we are unable to locate the page you requested on the Department of Justice web site."

Please provide a correct link. Thanks
I read your blog posting regarding your dealings and I must tell you that I am so sorry for all that you have been through. I believe that it is the same person (the name sounds so familiar to me) that sold me a POS off of eBay a while back ( this was before I knew about this incredibly great site with people who care and volunteer their time to authenticate for us) or else I would have had it authenticated and it would have saved me a lot of headaches. At the time, I was dumb enough to pay via Western Union (SHOULD HAVE BEEN RED FLAG NUMBER ONE FOR ME) and now that I have learned more, I see all of the problems with the fake Hermes I was sold and paid a boat load of money for. I had no recourse as I paid by Western Union. And they are getting way to smart. I actually found a LV Receipt maker for sale. OMG, they will do anything. They will use stock photos and send you a purse not even in the photos, or they will send you an original receipt but a fake handbag. It keeps getting worse and worse and the criminals just keep trying to make fakes look like originals.

I really feel you should call eBay and/or Paypal and discuss this with them and tell them your experience and show them the proof you have. I am hopeful you got this guy off of eBay and the Internet for good.
