To the best of my knowledge, LV staff get 20% products, but only get to spend approx. $2000 per year. Also, you have to wait until 6 months after a new product is released e.g. the phone charms. Someone did tell me how long you had to work there before the discount applies, but I've forgotten :s

Heard similar from my SA. Also, saw somewhere that the seasonal SA don't get a discount at all.

30% regular discount on non limited merchandise; 6 month wait on new release and limited items, unless they want to purchase at full price (some do); up to 75% on defect, returned, or display (on the shelves with leather that has a patina) models. there is a cap of approx $2-3,000 a year, but a little more, something like $4-5,000 for the RTV (return to vendor - vender in this case meaning the LV warehouse) items.

seasonal SA's get the same discount.. 30% on regular, and no discount on limited items.

this topic has been discussed numerous times.. try doing a search and you'll find plenty of information all over this board for it.

How does one get a job as an SA? Is it hard?
i just answered this question in the LJ LV community, so here's a copy and paste:
------------------------
hi. it's a 4 step application process.
1. application and interview with department manager.
2. interview with store manager
3. interview with district manager (by this point, you've got the job in the bag!)
4. human resources/paperwork

requirements: plenty of sales experience in high-end boutique, or of equivalent experience. a great personality and sales energy is also very helpful, but not required.. as we all know, some SA's are very .. vanilla.

discount:
regular merchandise: 30%. limit varies by the year. last year was only $3,000.
defect, returned, or items with patina'ed leather: 70%. annual limit includes regular and rtv (return to vendor) pieces.

other perks (other than the usual insurance/401/etc):
LVMH provides the uniforms. you get 3 sets, and they need to be dry-cleaned. dry cleaning is provided by the company, you bring in one set, wear one, and they clean the other etc. rotate. the uniforms change every quarter (ever so slightly - like men's are ties, women's are skirt lengths, etc).

starting pay is approx $14/hr for sales associates.

i hope that info helps. i've never worked for LVMH or LV, but I know this info because i've been on a couple interviews (up til #2 interview) and didn't make it past because some other potential employees were past employees just coming back.. so it's easier for them to rehire someone, than train someone completely new.. however they do have me on file. :)
------------------------
There you go!

thank you for the info! i was debating getting a part time job there. do you know how often they get raises or if there are any sales bonuses etc?

i have a full time job and can't decide if it's worth it to get another job at lv on the weekends. i was told pt needs to work at least 16 hours a week i think which would be the entire weekend for me...

well it's up to you hlfinn.. if you think those 16 hours for the weekends are worth the discount! haha!

raises in retail come about the same for any other job industry i think.. every 6 months you get a review by the manager and based on your performance, you get a little raise.. but it's not much. usually by a quarter or one dollar at most. unless you're getting promoted, then it's usually not more than a dollar. bonuses, yes.. the store has a quota they must hit (usually $4-5K over LY [LY = Last Year $dollar]) and if the store hits it, they get a bonus, and they spread the bonuses out accordingly to whoever the SA got the most "sales".

missy, yeah you can do that if you want.. but they'll just tell you to come back with a resume instead. they really don't have you fill one out until you get an interview.

its usually best to seek employment closer to the holidays, where you might land a seasonal job. if you've done well as a seasonal SA, they would then keep you on, and then you'd be permanent. :) good luck!
