How to walk in high heels?

I don't think you should be continuously walking on heels >4" for more than 2 hours...

I wear my shoes when I shop or go out and I can last the entire day. It doesn't mean I'm standing/walking the whole time. Most of the time I'm actually sitting down. The point of high heels is NOT to walk so much... and that's why guys like 'em... I read somewhere that heels make girls walk slower (or not at all) so they're better preys for men to attack and hunt them down? LOL

I can see that :p Lol

I actually find it a little more difficult to walk in platforms rather than a single sole high heel. 4" is max for me, and I don't do platforms over 1/2". I do agree that there is something about your core strength and posture that make it easier to walk/stand in high heels like the article said.

I've just bought 2 pairs of Bionda Castanas (styles names 'Georgia' and 'Lara') and I love them! They are high but (and this is really important for me) supremely comfortable. They are a 5 inch heel, but since they have a great platform and an almond toe, there is plenty of support. If you like a comfy high heel, these are well worth consideration.

it made me laugh ...
i have 2 pairs of platform from marni. honestly i only wore them indoor...don't have the courage to wear them on the street. afraid that i might break my ankle. :push:

I've just bought myself a pair of high heels to wear to a wedding on New Years Eve. I live in flats and so am really out my comfort zone in such high shoes. Does anyone have any tips on walking in heels, I'm worried i may fall over!!

Im considering going for a slightly lower heel but these do wonders for my legs (i have chunky calves!) so would like to stick with them!

The best thing to do is keep your back straight and head up: no hunching! I find women hunch a lot when they wear heels so it's just counterproductive to the sexiness that you're hoping to exude when wearing them. Be confident when you wear them and you can swing your hips a little when you walk as it builds up momentum and you kind of get in a groove. Also, remember to pick your feet up when you take steps...I've seen my best friend almost eat it multiple times because she's used to dragging her feet a little (like when you're in flats) and the heel catches on carpet and she stumbles.

Sound advice here about how to walk and the need to keep practising. I find that I tend to walk better in a high heel with a platform. However, that doesn't stop me purchasing lovely 4 inch heels with no platform - I'm just careful where I wear them. GL and enjoy your new heels!

Keep your shoulders back and your back straight. Your center of gravity should be low, near your pelvis. You should definitely not "lurch" forward. Your foot should be securely into your forward step before the rest of your body comes forward.

When you walk in heels, you have to be aware that your lower body will move differently than when in flats. Loosen up your legs because your knees need to bent more and your hips need to swing more.

JUst wear them around the house a lot for practice and you will get the hang of it :)
