Hey ladies! I was wondering, can anyone explain to me how to read the chanel tags? I tried to search the forum but didn't come up w/anything . . . I know how to read the color code and the year, but what does the letter coming after the year stand for? Also, what about the string of numbers/letters at the very top, on the same line as the year? (mine all start w/"A", not sure if that's standard . . . )thanks!

08 = collection year 2008

P = Printemp or Spring

A37590 = style number (prefix) - all you need is this number

Y04373 = part of the style number (suffix)

94305 = black color

NSZ = no size (one size fits all)

3572621322283 = bar code number used for inventory purpose in the Chanel Boutique and Saks. Department stores like NM and Bloomingdales use their own tracking system. Not sure about Nordstrom and BG.

Just to add to Sophie's information, the last part of the style#, the Ycode, the suffix as she refers to it, describes the leather and treatment and hardware of the bag.
