How to look classy & put together with subtlety?

I agree with you. In fact, I think there is nothing classier than sophisticated use of color.

Sometimes (dare I say often) neutrals are a default to safe. But it is true it is easier to look put together in them. Not that put together is necessarily a synonym of classy.

But I think one of the best things we can do is to learn which colors and tones suit our complexion. This used to be the .1 of dressing, but we have kind of forgotten... It took me too long.

On steamers, I also love mine! It is this, the Fridja.

I have that one too, it is my "when the other one breaks down" steamer, I prefer the flat head as you can get better inside sleeves and such

What's the brand/name?

I can try to find you a link to it? Usually tons of it on eBay, I tried the one that is like tongs where it steams from both sides, massive hassle, then the other one that looks like a weird shaped bottle, I find that one most comfy and versatile, if you have pets, it has an attachment that works like a lint roller, and you can then remove hair and lint with a rough brush or the rough end of a regular kitchen sponge. I readily admit that I hate doing domestic chores

It´s very interesting, I agree with that! The use of colors is fascinating....I have always resorted to a colourful top and black/neutral bottoms. But I´m quite bored with all the minimalist videos of neutrals only...great as foundation, not final style as it´s not a style.
But neutrals automatically look put together and chic, while bright colours can so easily look cheap....

I used to do colorful top/neutral bottom. Now I am kinda over it, so I am looking to go the other way (inspired by some fun patterned bottoms I have gotten) and go for neutral or colorful top and non-neutral bottom! Finding the right shades for the bottoms has been a struggle! I have been looking for the right non-neutral pant for weeks now! I have tried on many, they don't fit or the color is not in my palette. I found a well fitting pair but it was a pumpkin orange.A nice shade for someone else's wardrobe, but looks weird in mine! It doesn't go with my colors in a way that I like to pair! I am down to my last hope, cross your fingers.

IMHO, personal grooming is one of the most important things to look classy. It's all about subtle make up and avoiding anything fake: long fake nails, fake eyelashes and obviously tattooed makeup. I mean, you can have fake nails and fake eyelashes, but they still have to look natural. Your hair color is a big one, too. It has to look like it could be your own. I have very dark brown hair, I would never dye my hair red or blonde. Accepting who you are and making the most of what you have makes you look classy and confident: I'm very pale naturally, and I accept that; when I was younger I would try to get a suntan and it was always extremely painful. Now I'm pale and rockin' it, even though I know paleness is not the beauty standard where I live. I just own it and wear shorts!
I love the transformative quality of nail polish, too. On the one hand, neutral colors are always classy (and subtle), but on the other hand, whenever I see someone with beautiful bright red nails, or a vampy burgundy, or a perfectly applied eggplant polish, I think they have gone/are going somewhere fabulous and had to get their nails done, so by extension their lives are interesting. I know it's silly, but that always comes to mind. :giggle:.
Style wise, everybody's different.
I am a high contrast winter in coloring. My Kibbe type is dramatic classic. There's a lot of structured/semi-structured black in my closet, leather jackets, pants and blouses, and I live in a tempered climate. My basics may not be your basics, but I would say something too sexy/tight/revealing will never be classy nor subtle.
Lacquered nails and jewelry are my obsessions, and I have to have both. Well-made jewelry brings SO MUCH class to your outfit.
And one last important thing to say is that you don't have to be skinny to look classy, but it is very important that your clothes are the right size, not too big and not too small. And if you are overweight, grooming is even more important.

You know that woman who just shows upper class all naturally?
What is it about her overall style?
Yes it’s her name, her way of talking and expressing herself so politely and eloquently, but…physically?
There is grooming. I have noticed they often have perfect hair (but what to do when your hair is so thin and fine?)
Face : how about the skin? make up? Eyebrows? Glasses?
Perfect hands and nails, semi short and neutral or classic red colors.
What about The wardrobe?! The coat, the shoes.
I have tried investing in nice brands for coat, shoes and handbags. But idk why I’m not there, I don’t feel there.
And I don’t always make the effort, but I have tried saving some YouTubers but what is the real life effort asked there? (And not just for YT) kate Hutchins , Shiv in Succession, Charlotte York from SATC, but in France it’s different..it’s so subtle.

100% agree with grooming. Long nails with over the top designs are not classy, I think nicely groomed nails with a neutral color is very classy, there's a reason why ballet slippers is the queen's favorite color! I think makeup also, over the top "blush blindness" and overly exaggerated winged eyeliner is also not classy.

There are times when all of us feel less than polished, but I would caution against being too harsh to oneself. You are most likely far more polished than uou give yourself credit for. And, I would say, the most polished people are those who are confident in themselves (after making sure they are neat and presentable :)
