I suppose, after your lips shrank you had some fillers as well (apart from the bullhorn lip lift). Could you disclose who the surgeon was (if not the fee)?
Hi @Shakun, no lip fillers. That's how great Miss Mills was. She everted the lip when she took off 9 mms of philtrum skin and trimmed the muscle too. I apply carmex lip chapstick daily which is known to hydrate and also plump lips! If you get a proper bullhorn lip lift to 11 mms (not skin only), the results are permanent and do not shrink by 6 months. Most surgeons aim to reduce the philtrum to 15 mms which is not the length of a young lady (11-13 mms) but that of a man!

Hi @tm_travels there is no down side. Side effects occur at doses above 40 mg taken over 6 weeks. Postop use is 30 mgs for an average female or 40 mg for a large female for 7 days only. Dr Andrew Jacono in nyc prescribes for up to 2 weeks.

What I learned from my close friend who took 30 mg a day for a week is prednisolone also prevented her from feeling pain too as well as reduced swelling and bruising.

Yes as far as I am aware only Dr Lee at Honette Clinic in korea prescribes pred with his face fat grafts but is not a facelift surgeon.
My face is swelling after undereyes fat repositioning and facial fat grafting, I got it done 3 days ago. Would you recommend me to take 30 mg prednisolone? Is it too late for me to take it since I’m already swollen? :(

Hi @cherryzz, yes you can take pred to reduce swelling even at day 3 as days 2-3 are when swelling is at its worst. Pred is fine for the first 7 days post surgery.

Hi MissOrange, I couldn't find if you had any veneers topics the thread. Have you ever done any? I'm considering SK for my veneers and facelift.
Hi @Sophia Virginara, yes I had porcelain veneers in North London with Dr Merv Druian. He did lots of celeb veneers and Cindy Jackson so I chose him decades ago. Then I had replacement veneers after a decade in hopes it would give me upper teeth show by replacing with longer veneers. I was also told veneers only last 10 years. Sadly after paying £10k I still had no upper teeth show and realised I needed philtrum reduction, not longer teeth veneers.

I don't see the dental hygienist anymore as one cracked my veneer and it cost me £1k to fix one veneer..I have my own dental pick tool.

He was £500 a tooth or £5000 for 10 for my first set but the price doubled with the second set to £10k so now like you I would need to explore Korea if I need a third set. Do share who you go with, their price and if you are happy.

Thank you so much for the detailed info. I had mine done in US 8 years ago. It became darker at the gumline, because of leakage under the porcelain. The bond has deteriorated... yuck! And yes, one of my tooth cracked during the regular cleaning at the dental. Too bad it's an irreversible procedure.
I considered getting a new set in Turkey, after some research I noticed they all shave down all the healthy teeth so they look like a shark teeth... Which is a BIG NO to me.
As soon as I finalize my SK list for veneers I'll Dm you ;) Another country I'm considering is Croatia.

Yesterday I made another revelation re facelift longevity. My new theory is that all types of facelifts may fail if you are overweight as the weight of excess facial fat may eventually cause sagging.

For longevity, only get a smas facelift+steroids when you are at your optimum slim weight. I don't think postop steroids can stop sagging when the face has to contend with constant downward pressure from heavy fat.

All facelifts look good in the early weeks (honeymoon phase) due to tissue distension causing temporary volume which lifts the face but when the face fully deswells and relaxes, signs of laxity may appear and slowly the face drops.

In my opinion, it may be pointless getting any facelift if you are overweight as you may be throwing away £15k-£20k for a good result for a handful of months only. No matter how strong the smas or dp stitches are, it cannot withstand the constant gravitational pressure of fat.

Today's post is a concerning one on facelift surgeons. We have seen how a tpfer flew to Korea, paid $10k to Vlif for a smas facelift and ended up getting a DP unbeknownst to her. She was told after the operation! The face then sagged within months. This poor lady had her facial retaining ligaments permanently cut without her consent! I have yet to see a case of a face not sag after DP or DP revision as we need our scaffold ligaments!

Why would a surgeon do DP instead of smas while you are asleep unbeknownst to you? One obvious reason may be to gain practice doing DPs at your expense.

How then do you know if the surgeon does a dp instead of smas while you are asleep?

One way may be to look for 'dog ear' swellings in the upper cheeks. Think Angelina Jolie in Maleficent.

Some ladies who have deep plane end up with these unusual deformities but what if you consented to a smas and developed suspicious dp dog ears?

With smas I have never seen any ladies develop dog ears.

What if you paid for smas, took postop pred but developed dog ears and early sagging within weeks?

Unless the surgeon tells you he did DP and not smas, how will you ever know?

You can ask for a copy of your operation records but what if the surgeon refuses to provide one?

It is a worry that some surgeons end up doing a different operation while you are under. Case in point, I paid for and consented to explant with a full anchor breast lift with Guy Sterne and awoke to a mini donut perareolar breast lift which put all the tension on my skin sutures closing around the areolae instead of an anchor lift distributing tension below the breast so as not to leave hypertrophic scarring. I ended up with early breast sagging and hypertrophic periareolar scarring. This led me down the rabbit hole of asking for a free revision, third degree periareolar laser burn, burn surgery repair, breast fat transfer for asymmetrical lift revision and finally areoiar medical tattoo to mask the pigment changes. He got away with it as his consent form just had one word mastopexy ie breast lift next to explant.

I was fortunate with my facelift as my surgeon was not doing deep planes in 2022.

All I can advise is find a surgeon or clinic who only does smas (ie ASPS clinic in Seoul) and not deep plane or have your smas under local as he cannot do a dp under local. And if you dare go under, then write on the consent form 'only SMAS' next to facelift/rhytidectomy so the surgeon cannot add 'sub' to smas as sub smas=DP! Then take a photo of your signed consent form as often times the consent form is on an ipad and not paper so may be easily altered.

Welcome to the unscrupulous world of plastic surgery where not only do you have to navigate ghost surgeons or doctor swapping in factory clinics or training hospitals, or one anaesthetist covering simultaneous patients under GA in Korea, but now the phenomenon of operation swapping both in Korea and in the UK!

Family Ties child actress Justine Bateman is the same age as I am 57. She has opted to age naturally and defends her decision that she is not afraid to age. I think if she did simple measures like pluck her brows and not line under her eyes, it would help. And then fillers to add volume. These are non surgical measures. My reasons for surgery is that I am not happy looking ugly and menopause robbed me of my looks.

Welcome to tpf @anniebee135! As a European lady you may wish to choose a uk or european surgeon for upper bleph. My concern is in Korea they work on Asian eyes. Although you could see Dr Seo at Machimpyo just for upper lid fat graft for hollowing.

For necks, try ASPS in Apgujeong but the chief surgeon is getting old.

You could email your photos to several Korean clinics for a free opinion.
