This is what you want from a facelift...the same hold at 10 days postop as 2 years postop and no nasolabial folds! Remember smas and not deep plane and take a week of prescribed postop steroids or don't get a facelift until you find a doctor or surgeon who will prescribe. The -2 day image was taken 6 months after a facelift without prednisolone steroids. The enormous swelling stretched the skin. Then I had a smas facelift with steroids and what a difference in hold and longevity!

This is interesting to know @MissOrange. I've always shy away from steriods and prednisone in general because of the side effects and weight gain. I guess I need to take this into consideration for facelifts.

what kind of dose will be needed for 4 days? How many times per day?

I feel compelled to warn all mature ladies getting a facelift in Korea that if you get mega postop swelling you may be putting yourself at high risk of sagging at 4-6 months when you have completely deswelled. It has happened to many British ladies getting facelifts in the UK where 99% of surgeons do not prescribe postop prednisolone, unlike the top American facelift surgeons and it seems that Korean surgeons are behaving like UK surgeons and not prescribing intraop or postop steroids to reduce swelling.

Here is my pic collage looking fab after a July 2021 facelift at 1 month August 2021 as the swelling is holding up my face and stretched skin but as the surgeon did not prescribe postop prednisolone, my swollen tight face then slowly deflated and sank at 5-6 months December 2021 with extra stretched loose skin. Luckily my surgeon had a free retightening policy with a year and even though he still refused to prescribe steroids, this time I used my ones from my NHS GP. With my free retightening facelift in January 2022 I had ZERO swelling on prednisolone for 4 days (no Montezuma’s revenge swelling as before) and my facelift has now held up for 2 years and counting.

The other warning I need to mention is that if the surgeon uses permanent sutures, your face may react to this foreign body and create abscesses, holes in the face, constant irritation, inflammation and pain. Please suggest he uses pds sutures which are the longest acting absorbable sutures.

And finally pain control. The first 24 hours after a facelift is so painful that you will NOT be able to sleep unless your surgeon prescribes diclofenac or tramadol or codeine. Simple tylenol will not be strong enough. Ideally a patient should have zero postop pain if the surgeon has prescribed strong enough painkillers. Sadly in Korea, the clinics only tell their patients to take simple tylenol. You may need to bring your own prescription painkillers and prescription prednisolone if you want to ensure your facelift lasts longer than 6 months when you fly to Korea.

Today’s post is an over 7.5 year update on my rib rhinoplasty with Lucian Ion. Remember prolene sutures can cause nasal tip abscesses which I had so ask for pds long acting absorbable ones. To think Mr Ion made me sign a consent form that would not guarantee the stability of my nose after 4 months with pds sutures. lol. I think almost 8 years is a testament to the fact that scar tissue forms after the pds sutures dissolve in 12- 18 months. I love pds sutures. I had this for my smas facelift to pull up my smas too which has held 2 years and counting now. To think in 2016 a rib rhinoplasty in London cost £7500 but now I bet it is over £20,000? The sooner you can get plastic surgery, the better as prices just keep going up and up, much like property prices too. Remember a sign of aging is nasal tip droop. You can either choose to get a tip rhinoplasty that tilts the tip up or a full rib or septal cartilage rhinoplasty that also builds up the nose bridge for added height and projection.

Here is why a vertical smas facelift is superior to a deep plane. A plastic surgeon did a smas facelift under local anaesthesia for as little as £3495 on me and it still looks great at 2 years with no nasolabial folds.

Here is a pic of me in April 2019 vs Jan 2024 and the difference is a 5th and final full face fat graft Jan 2020 for 2 mill won and a vertical superficial smas facelift Jan 2022 for £3495. Now why would anyone pay $20k-$100k for a deep plane facelift which may cause pronounced nasolabial folds due to cutting of the facial retaining ligaments that are left severed? Or is it that only old Asians like myself know how to bargain and others think paying a fortune means getting value for money?

That said when I looked old I was either treated old or was invisible. Now looking super young I get so much attitude from the public. Do young people really get treated this poorly? Or is it that I am an old opinionated lady stuck inside a young girl's body now?

Why is it that Koreans and UK. I clearly seems to help many with some minor side effects if any. I ask a few Korean Clinics about this a while back and was told they dont use or recommend it. I find that so odd ..you would think they would be the first.
Hi @tm_travels that's what I don't understand either. Korea is the best in the world in plastic surgery so you would think they absolutely understand the importance of intraop and postop steroids to eliminate skin stretch from swelling and also know how to manage postop analgaesia too. Do they only know how to operate and forget pharmacology? That said Koreans know how to suture. They specialise in invisible scars.

The secret to reverse facial ageing is to combine a fat transfer to replace lost deep tissue fat, with upper bleph, lip lift and a vertical vector facelift. Dr Amir Karam’s 60 year old had fat transfer, upper and lower blephs and a vertical vector lower facelift. One cannot expect to turn back time successfully without addressing the loss of deep facial fat post menopause with either natural weight gain or autologous fat transfer. I have gone one step further and addressed an ageing drooping nose tip with a tip rhinoplasty and then a Barbie nose lift. So the final step for me to stay looking 20s is the vertical vector entry level FL in 12 days time.
@MissOrange, does Dr Karam perform an Smas and not DP? I've always thought he does DP?

So what exactly is the Vertical VECTOR lower FL? How different is that from the one perfomed by Nick Rhodes? Are they both Smas's? I note that Karam also lifts your temporal areas/ upper brows as part of this Vertical Restore. Does Nick R cut and lift the temporal areas too?

@MissOrange, I reached out to Coppergate to try to arrange a FL like yours. They just told me that Nick Rhodes had stopped acceping patients for VR lifts, due to "exceptionally high demand" and "extensive waiting lists".

Hmm, didn't he just raise the price to £15k or so?

What's going on, I wonder....
