How to dodge the "how much did that purse cost" question?

It depends who it is and what bag i am carrying.

If its an expensive bag and a stranger asks then i avoid by saying not sure, it was a gift or got it for free etc etc incase they were planning on robbing me! haha

If its someon i know then I usually tell them how much it is! I mean there either asking for one of a few reasons:

- They genuienly love your bag and want to see if its in the price range they would be prepared to spend on a bag.

Or

- they're being nosy/want to give you s***.

If its the later case i have a few choice words that i will use!

I simply wave and say, oh, it was a gift, I have no idea, or I got a fabulous deal. Just deflect.

Awesome answer! I do the exact same thing - because no one understands unless you really love bags. Women get expensive jewelry etc. , men get toys (motorcycles, etc.), why do people have a hard time accepting that a quality, well made bag that you use every day (at least I know I do!:smile1:) is ok? My mom does not know bags (but knew enough that mine "looked expensive")& yesterday I told her I won my Chloe paraty at a fundraiser & I "never heard of this brand" - she really does not know bags!...(oh, I feel so evil :graucho:) - but if she only knew how much it cost.....I will never tell...

I would never be so rude to ask anyone how much their bag costs or "is it fake?". That is just rude. I know that I saved up for my bag, I sold ones that I did not use & I use my expensive bag every single day & will continue to for years. I work hard. I do not see a problem!

It's a terribly rude question. I would not satisfy nosy curiosity or thinly disguised envy or hostility. I'd say something like,
"Thanks for noticing my bag. I do enjoy it."

A good answer is, 'if you have to ask you can't afford it'. Although I will tell a friend who is into bags how much I spent.
It's a good answer if you want to come off as arrogant and rude.

I usually just ignore the specific question overall, and reply with where I got it; implying they can check the price at the store if they'd like.

I don't think most people are rude when they ask the price, I think they are just really curious and it's their own way of saying that they like your bag.

I love this attitude!!! My goal for the coming year is to develop a 1st class disposition and this is a perfect example.

"Thanks for noticing my bag. I do enjoy it."

And the perfect words to express Tinagirls "see the best in people" attitude.

:hugs:

My answer has always been either "my hubby bought it" or " oh! It's hand me down from my mom, isn't it gorgeous" but I think it's Bette to just say "I don't remember, u shud check online" and end of discussion! I know people who ask such questions are not actually happy tht ur carrying a pretty bag but hoping it's a fake or they r probably jealous!
