I have tried to search for this but I have not been able to find anything about this specific problem.

I am asian and have those straight short asian lashes. However, I have been using an eyelash conditioner that really has helped me grow my lashes fuller and thicker and my lashes on my outer eye curls nicely while the lashes on my inner eye remains straight!!

I have an eyelash curler from Shiseido(?) and it works well on my outer lashes but no matter how hard I try I never get my inner lashes to curl..

What can I do? They are poking me in the eye!!

Thanks!

not sure how poking u in the eye, but you can always heat up your curler with a hair dryer and then just clamp down on the inner corners by angling it slightly. wait until it cools down a tiny bit b4 putting it on ur eye though...dont want you to get burned.

^Thanks but it doesnt work for me..Ive tried that too..It slightly curls and when I put mascara on the poke straight out again or falling down and poking my eye..

Have you tried waterproof mascara? I like Shu Uemura's or Laura Mercier.
I recently discovered Shiseido's Mascara base and it helps the curl's staying power!

This is in addition to using the curler, of course ;)

Sounds like your mascara might be the problem. I find that few mascaras hold my curl. I like Maybelline Sky High Curves, and so far am really liking Smashbox Bionic Mascara. I heat my curler up to curl mine. Have you seen Enkore's video on stubborn lashes? First he puts clear mascara on, lets it set, then curls the lashes. After that you add mascara.

the mascara i use is shiseido's lasting lift. i find that it hold my curl really really well. I have asian lashes as well, and most other mascaras just weight them down. but the lasting lift one is really able to hold up the curl all day long, so my lashes always keep the just-curled look.

first off, may I ask which eyelash conditioner you used? I would love to get fuller and longer lashes as well!

I also use a eyelash curler by shiseido as it seems to fit my eyes the best out of all the other curlers I owned/tried. I use a blowdryer on it for 5 seconds, let it cool off a bit and then clamp over my eyelashes for about 10 seconds per eye and then go back over each eye for another 5 seconds or so. This has helped my curl stay longer even after I apply mascara. The mascara that holds my curl best is maybelline's full and soft.

like many have posted here, u must use shiseido mascara primer after u curl them w/ the heated curler and then put on ur mascara.

I have Asian lashes too. This is what I do to get curled lashes that last all day.

Start with shu uemura mini eye lash curler. It's flat so you can get really close to the eye (good for short lashes).

Because the mini eye lash curler is used in "sections", I make sure the curl is even with Sephora brand's Go Curl eye lash curler. This is also on the flatter side which is great for shorter lashes.

Then finish with Lancome oscillation. Usually I use both the primer and the mascara.

My eyelashes stay curled from morning to night!

Thank you guys!! I guess I have to go on a make up spree tomorrow!

And I use Nutraluxe MD eyelash conditioner. It took me ahwhile to see results, so if you are impatient, this is not for you. Will do a review thread with pics!

Have you considered perming your lashes? My lashes are super straight too and I also find that curlers poke my eyes... I like to perm my lashes, save me time :D I'm sure you can get it done in most Asian salons for around $30

I am part Chinese, and while I really don't look it much I do have the short straight downward pointing eyelashes associated with Asian eyes.
I've found curling my eyelashes with a flat mini curler like luvhautecouture said helps, and also if I heat up the curler with the blow dryer. Also try and curl them in different spots, like once close to the eyelid, then the same section again a little farther from the eyelid.
I just bought Yves Saint Laurent's MASCARA VOLUME EFFET FAUX CILS. I LOVE it. It makes my lashes look twice as long and also seems to curl them a little!

hello dear, have you tried using a small eyelash curler? it's a mini curler that is supposed to be used on the lower lashes, but actually you can use it to curl both upper and lower lashes. it allows you to curl the lash in sections. it works wonders.

;)
