How often do you switch up/rotate your fine jewelry?

I always thought I would wear the same pieces every day, but in reality I tend to rotate my jewelry. As I have acquired more pieces, I rotate them more, but not enough, and I end up switching it up with the “low hanging fruit”: things that I have readily available, whatever’s new or that I have hanging about. I prefer to keep my jewelry in a safe so I wasn’t getting the most out of my pieces.

Last week, I installed a small safe in my walking closet and pulled the things I want to wear often out of their individual boxes. I’ve rearranged them in plastic boxes so I can see everything I have there. It’ not a glamorous solution but I hope it’s a practical one. The special occasion pieces are still in a deeper safe. I hope this easier arrangement will help me rotate my jewelry more! I tend to coordinate my jewelry to my outfit, occasion and venue (I’ve mentioned before that I live in a super dangerous city, so many times this is what dictates my choices) so I hope to start having more fun choosing my jewelry in the morning.

I’ve kept all the individual boxes to switch back in case this doesn’t work out.

I do this too! Those plastic hardare containers from Dollar Tree are a godsend. There’s something about changing up jewelry to match your mood (and your look).

That sounds like the perfect minimal collection to me! May I ask which YG pieces you have specifically? (Rings and bracelets). Thank you!

I recently shared my YG collection, its just missing a tiffany DBTY style 6 diamond bracelet in YG

Lately, I have two looks that I alternate between: simple and simpler.

My simple look includes my wedding band (Cartier Love Ring in white gold with 3 diamonds), my right hand ring (classic Cartier Trinity Ring), wide 18k yellow/white gold huggies, and 2 small yellow gold bracelets on my right wrist. (Those bracelets are a Tiffany/Paloma Picasso citrine olive leaf bracelet and a Mikimoto akoya station bracelet.)

My simpler look consists of only 3 pieces: the aforementioned rings and diamond huggies in white gold.

I seldom wear a necklace. Until recently, I only wore a wedding band when I left the house (and never a right-hand ring), but my husband started making a fuss about my hands being bare.

I switch my jewelry out everyday. I have diamond pieces, gemstone pieces, and pesrls. I have a pair of white gold diamond studs that are screw-back and I tried sleeping in them but I couldn't take it. I habe to take things out when I sleep, shower, etc. I would say I like jewelry more than purses, clothes, ans shoes. I do not have a massive collection I have 15 pairs of earrings, 4 rings, one bracelet, two watches, 3 pearl necklaces, one heirloom necklace, and one silver herringbone necklace. I have 4 or 5 pieces on my wishlist.

This is a bit of an old thread to dig up..
I don’t change my 2 pairs of studs(DFL and Blue), my necklace (blue diamond), sometimes wear 3 row pear bracelet, have 3 diamond watches..but I love rings.

I like to trade mine up as my taste evolves..I have one heirloom ring which I’m remounting,

I stick to the same 2 jewellers , both of whom let me upgrade, so I wear the same ring for a few years, then trade it up towards a better spec diamond-for my right hand I have a few diamond rings , but as (my fiancé was a lot older and developed dementia during lockdown so I never married) I’m single , I like to change my left hand ring with the intention eventually of having some serious high jewellery rings.

Don’t used to change out much but now I have added a few pieces, I start to do so pretty often, mainly bracelets and rings. I like all of them to be worn and seen (by me). Rings will be daily, and bracelets once or twice a week.

Necklace I usually stick to one fav and wear it all the time.

I don’t wear earrings and hardly watches.

I have quite a bit of jewelry and I tend to wear the newer pieces while forgetting my previous pieces. What I do now is I rotate weekly. I go through all my jewelry about once a week or two and pick pieces that all work together plus a couple extras, and then I put those in a smaller jewelry box that I keep on my dresser. It solves my issue of “forgetting” my older pieces and gives me a chance to appreciate what I haven’t worn in awhile :)

I changed mine daily based on what I am wearing. I am currently into necklaces after chasing bracelets for a while. I only want 2 more necklace pieces in white gold and I am at jewelry peace (maybe lol).
Lucky you!

I will NEVER be at jewellery peace in the rest of my life..

My earrings, necklace, watch and bracelet haven’t changed for years..

Although this year I traded in a yellow diamond platinum necklace I thought I’d never part with..
I curate my jewellery collection as I do my bag collection..

My true love are my rings-I’m loyal to the same jewellers but buy rings which I can upgrade..I do have some which I can’t, which annoy me, as they’re a sunk cost..
One is a family heirloom, the others I save up and trade in towards new rings every few years.

I cannot imagine reaching jewellery peace!❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Do you know which 2 necklaces you want?

LOL. My partner has huge doubt I will ever get jewelry peace. :P

I do try to curate my collection, too. Giving away or selling the one that I no longer wear.

I recently learned that my skin looks good in white gold and Platinum so I have my eyes on 1 more Tiffany keys to stack with the large key that I have. I have been eyeing the Kaleidoscope and the Victoria Key, but not sure I am willing to pay the high price for just a diamond platinum key. Other than that, I am on the hunt for a diamond collar necklace in white gold for special occasion.

If you are buying the Tiffany piece, just some friendly advice, be really sure, as it doesn’t hold its resale value, so if you change your mind you will lose a lot selling it..it’s fine if you are going to keep it.❤️❤️

I can’t curate my collection: I have two daughters and my eldest (11) is dying to get her hands on some of my pieces. It just gives me an excuse to hoard everything, because I just know my daughters will raid my jewelry box sooner rather than later.
My mom would only lend me her silver pieces, but, to be fair, I was always losing her earrings!

My poor Mum is very much alive and a very young not grey 77, but has dementia-I can imagine a situation one day where both my sister and I will want her jewellery..although I like wearing my own and wouldn’t wear it, and my sister has plenty of her own and is just greedy..
I buy my niece jewellery but she’s much bigger than me and has a very different style and sadly mine will probably be sold one day , luckily I hope to be around for the next 50 years!

Thank you for the head up. I am actually looking into 2nd hand, consignment, or estate right now. Maybe that can soften the blow of reselling later. The Asians in me won't allow me to pay full price for designer jewelry. Lol. The only thing I am willing to pay a high price for is antique jewelry.

Thats fine, buying second hand you’ll lose the new premium, if you decide to sell later..
You didn’t need my advice after all(I’m a qualified jewellery professional -FGA)
