How Often Do You Change Handbags?

When I changed handbags daily, I used the same wallet and cosmetic case for 4 - 6 months before switching (usually for more seasonal colors). Now that I change handbags less often I'm inspired to coordinate my handbag accessories with the handbag color or trim. So, I end up changing the wallet/etc. once or twice a month.

I may not be using as many handbags, but I'm using more of my accessories. And of course, finding the 'need' to buy more accessories in coordinating colors. And I've noticed that now that I'm paying more attention to the accessories, I want the color of those accessories to work well with each other, with the handbag color, and with the handbag lining color. The red linings on a majority of Dooney handbags make this a challenge for me. Between the color of the lining, the color of the handbag, the color of the handbag trim, and then the color of the accessories.... it can be too many colors at one time. And matching the accessories to the lining makes them hard to find inside the handbag.

I think it's why I try to keep some things simple. My projects are very detail-oriented, so I try to conserve brain power for that. :)
One other thing: I do have special bags for when we have inclement weather. And then it's all about matching the bag and coat! I can't stand a black bag on a navy coat. Can't do it. But it will work the other way with my dark navy bags. I don't know why that is. And green with black, never.

SBQ: I too am adverse to wearing a 'rainbow' of dark neutral colors... black coat, brown handbag, navy slacks.... one too many neutrals for me. And when the handbags have brown trim with another color, it just makes it more complicated. :)

Because my daily bag is red, I never wear green coats or jackets, and I especially don't wear bright green tops or bottoms. It looks too "festive" to me.

You know, I don't even think of it as too many neutrals. I just look at it and think instantly, "No!" I guess we're old school. They say it doesn't matter so much. I don't do it because of trends, it's just become ingrained in me. It's intuitive--and leads up to frequent bag changes. :)

I typically swap in the last of the month, but recently as I work through a backlog of new bags that I already own in other colors, I have been two a month. Most of my Florentines are in the brown family, but my main bag neutral is black. However for winer I will carry red, green, mdark green or bone as well.

I'm definitely a daily girl. I try to coordinate my purse with my outfit. I use the same wallet and cosmetic pouch tho. I just move them over to the next purse, easy swap. The hardest part is restuffing and rebagging them to storage mode.
Yes, the hardest part for me is digging out the bag I want to use and re-stuffing the one I'm no longer using and finding a home for it.

Wasn’t it simple when we were blessed with less money, fewer nice bags, fewer choices due to work restrictions. Change out the bag before work, pour everything in the bag you’re carrying that day and just put the old bag on the closet shelf or floor (because you’ll probably use it again before the end of the week). ;)

Handbags were black, brown, navy, bone or white, and maybe a red one too. My handbag was generally color matched to my suit... black, navy, brown. Sometimes a red handbag for a pop of color. White or bone for the spring/summer. Less choices, less chance for creativity, easier to find space in the closet, less fun too!

And I remember when shopping, very little temptation to buy another handbag in a color I already had at home. Now, every color or shade of color I like seems to find it's way home in every style I like. How did that happen?

Sure, life was simple BUT not nearly as thrilling as facing a good challenge! Then it was one pink bag that went with everything as long as it was “close enough” to coordinating. Now it is which shade of pink and style will take this outfit out the door to seize the day! Oh yeah! :yahoo:

Oh. I change every month and pick “specials” for the weekend. I am going to have to live to be 145 years old to use all my bags. Wish me luck.

This is me! I tend to have the larger bags when I'm carrying everything, then swap out to smaller if possible at night. So I always have a handful out at once- I have a hard time putting them back since I'm never quite sure if I'll want them again in the near future!

If I am not lazy to do the restuffing and rebagging to storage mode, I’d definitely change bags everyday! But since I am always lazy to do anything after work during weekdays, I’d just change it weekly.
