question… a way that i personally plan out purchases is to keep an excel document with all my pieces listed by category and metal type.
then I have a tab for anything I ordered (like special order, mto or something out of stock), and then a wishlist tab. The wishlist tab is then in order of priority.
this all sounds very extra, but it may help in your future purchase decisions no matter what brand. first of all it can show you “gaps” in your collection, and it means things are a bit more planned, at least for me.
That’s what I began doing. I want a small but useful set, I want the same set in WG and YG basically. Those are a dream to me…

Wouldn't you know this upon finalizing the purchase though? I get that for remote clients since they don't get to see and try on the pieces first hand, but if you've been to the boutique trying on different creations and make sure you're getting the correct size, you still end up feeling conflicted about your purchases? I'm also a perfectionist and OCD, I bring a loupe with me just to make sure I don't leave the boutique with a defective/less than perfect jewelry piece
For me, no, because the lighting completely changes once I leave the store. The coloring in store and at home is so different, especially when I got my chalcedony piece. I thought it looked blueish gray in store but when I took it home, it was just lilac and I hated that on my skin tone.

If that’s true then go on the website and see what sets you want to build, put those as your wishlist, and just keep to those. Obviously new collections will come and there will be limited things like holiday pendants which you need to decide if they’re worth being “distracted” by. But I think having a plan like this will minimize impulsive purchases.

on an unrelated note:
I really love the guillochés in all three metals. Some of my most worn bracelets are the diamond/guilloche yg, wg guilloche and rg guilloche/carnelian.

I have definitely succumb to the occasional impulse purchase here and there, but there’s really only one piece in my entire collection that I kind of regret getting (but I still think it’s stunning, and oh boy has the price of it gone up with increases!!!). So definitely don’t feel alone with this :)

Interesting, I take a ton of photos in store with flash on, the colors don't always look exactly the same in the boutique vs in natural lighting but pretty accurate like 90% close. You can always ask the SA if there are any rooms in the boutique that have natural lighting, I've done that before when I was shopping for chalcedony and carnelian since both stones are known to be hard to shop for because they change colors as the lighting change. You can't expect these stones to look the same in different lightings because they're semi-translucent stones cut in a thin clover form. Holiday pendant is easier to shop for with the stone center since the back is gold so the colors usually don't shift as much. With wear and tear related questions like guilloche and diamond pieces I tend to just hop on this forum instead since I don't expect the SA to give us the truthful answer
