How many times have you exchanged something?

First time in 20+ years of buying luxury goods, I’ve recently returned 1 item and exchanged for something else, and that was at VCA. I’m not an impulsive buyer and think it through thoroughly before I buy something. Most luxury goods boutiques don’t give a refund (I think it’s different in the USA, hence people buy and return all the time), but where I live, the stores only give store credit. Also, I don’t want to ruin the good relationships I have with my SA’s. ;)

I wish I was the same. I am an impulse buyer and then end up regretting it and exchanging it for something else, and I just know my SA hates me! I never refund, store credit or exchanges, but still. Like, I wish I didn’t get my guilloiche pieces and just got the Perlee clover bracelet but didn’t want to pull the trigger but now I regret that

Never have I exchanged VCA items.….These purchases are well planned and thought out.
See, I should be doing that. Usually I impulse buy then end up getting store credit. I have exchanged 5 times so far, and I just know my SA hates me now! I don’t think I was ready for luxury buying, I’m 23 and am way too indecisive for these purchases…

I don't know about the VCA sales policy, but this is a bit much. I'm sure your SA isn't thrilled... perhaps think things over before pulling the trigger?
Well, I’m not sure either to be honest. My SA probably dislikes me, do I care about that in the light of things? Not really, but I feel that I don’t think my purchases out properly. I know my recent return was because I was having issues with the chain which kept getting caught in my hair (necklace)

Some places may red flag you though..so you could get to a point of not being able to do any further returns/exchanges. That's what I was getting at.

Hm, interesting. I guess that could happen, although I’m exchanging there was usually good reason. E.g. when I bought my MoP necklace, I thought it would look better in a larger size so I exchanged it for a magic.

To each their own- you’re indecisive and others are not, but if you can still exchange, and really think you want the Perlee, then go return your items and get it, wear it, and enjoy it.

That’s what I think I’ll do regarding that, 32,000 (after tax) is a lot of money and I didn’t want to pull the trigger at the time so I settled and now I want it even more. I’ve done this way too many times and haven’t learned my lesson

I’d be careful with the excessive counts of exchanges you’re doing. Like another poster was saying, you may get flagged with all these exchanges and returns. Not sure if VCA has that policy but I know some other luxury brands have banned customers and only sell items to those customers and stamping Final Sale on the receipt…
I personally felt bad for doing my first exchange recently but my SA reassured me that I shouldn’t worry since she knows that it’s not typical for me to return an item.

My first exchange was petty, I got store credit and returned something because an SA rolled her eyes at me with my first ever purchases. My 2nd exchange was because I didn’t like how onyx looked on me, 3rd exchange was because the shade of chalcedony looked different at home than in store, 4th was a 1-1 exchange because I preferred the larger size. Hope I don’t get banned, but at this point, if I do it’s probably for the best cause I’ve spent almost 100,000 within a few months lol

I try not to, but I did once for a constance slim. My SA knew I couldn’t decide and said I can exchange if it doesn’t work out. Otherwise I do not even take the item. I don’t like to receive someone else’s returns so I personally don’t. I’ve had impulsive purchases too but it’s usually just a variant of what I intended to buy. ie. recently got mop earrings but went in for malachite.
You should give your purchases some thought so you don’t keep exchanging. It’s easy to find issues with an item if you’re not happy about it such as getting hair stuck, etc. It can happen with any jewelry in my opinion. And yes, many places will blacklist you for habitual exchanges so don’t wait for that to happen. Good Luck

Yes, a lot of us make that mistake, we settle for a less-expensive piece and years later go and buy that piece with lots of price increases. Don’t feel guilty, just realize it , and get the piece you want. At least you’re still in the exchange period. I sold off a bunch of stuff, as have many of us on this forum, realizing we were settling instead of buying the piece we wanted. Now go get the Perlee and post a pic when you have!
