How many non-designer bags do you own?

I have a Longchamp backpack (which I thought was a really big deal when I bought it a few years ago). I also have 2 bags I got at UNISA - one is a great butter colored large bag which I take to the beach, it's real leather and it holds everything!! the other is a beautiful solid black med. size skin like bag for evening wear - I really like these bags but once you get to the top of the food chain (so to speak) you tend to stay there. I would not sell any of them.

i have two clutches and a tote, all from target and a liz claiborn satchel. basically, i can't rationalize carrying expensive evening bags because i rarely go out. as far as every day bags go, i wear them into the ground (which only takes six months) then give them away or throw them away. :) the sachel is done...i'm trying to decide whether i should keep it as a work/rainy day bag (i work in a restaurant and my LV is not setting handle in that waitstation! heheh) or just get rid of it and buy another. it's kind of thrashed. :)

I'm seriously just starting out, and not just on designer bags, but bags in general. I hated purses back in High School. My mom used to get on me about not acting like a lady, lol.

Anyways, all of them at the moment are "non-designer" (no thanks to Coach cancelling on me). So, two :/

I found that whenever I saw a non-designer bag that might be of interest to me, I would think, hmmm that can be an extra 50 bucks/100 bucks etc. towards my LV/chanel etc. fund... And then I would be very hesitant to "waste" money on a non-designer handbag. What's your take on it?

Since I started on high end designer bags I never buy non designer bags for that same reason. I feel the same when I am out. Iused to hit the bag section at any store no matter what but now I only look if it will have LV CHANEL DIOR GUCCI BURBERRY ECT. Everything I had pre designer days went to my stepdaughter, with the exception of a see thru BEBE tote that I use for yard sales or flea markets but its still cool because my LV accessories show thru. I also have two or three others that I never use. I do however have a COLLECTION of clutches. I have probably about 30 or more. Those are not really high end designers just pretty and I like vintage clutches.

Thanks for all the response!! Glad to know that I'm not alone.. to me, since I got my first lv, that was a point of no return. I still look at non-designer bags from time to time, but i couldn't talk myself into "wasting" money on one..

I have one non-designer bag...a very cool velvet one that i got in Barcelona. It has never been used and is more a souvenir of my great week spent there.

I used to buy one designer bag a year ever since I graduated from med school....but I'd use it till it broke, was ugly or I tired of it,then buy another.I just threw them away:shame: .

Since last year, however, there have been so many great new bags that I bought 3 last year and two last month!

Anyway I'm not only a bag girl...fashion is my passion and I probably buy more clothes and shoes than anything else, but I have definitely learnt to appreciate the contribution of a fabulous bag to a great look.

I never buy non-designer bags, just like I never buy non-designer clothes any more. One gets used to a certain kind of quality.

I'd rather not buy as often and then get something great, than have 10 so-so things.
