I just read this post and am glad it all worked out for you golden'smom...and penny, your story is just terrible. I'm so hesitant of ebay now that I was 'scammed'...it was years ago and I just cannot get past it to purchase anything. The lady was prosecuted but I only got a minimal amount back because she had 'scammed' so many. I know that there are very honest, reliable sellers on ebay but stories like this bring back memories of the stress I endured during the unfortunate situation. It's such a shame that people have to be dishonest at someone's expense, both emotionally and financially.

I know we don't think a reputable seller would sell anything fake. But I wanted to share my experience. I was sold a fake Birkin about 7 years ago or so from Ebay for full retail. I was directed by the Internet Fraud division of the FBI to call the police department in the town where the bank account was. Wire transfer was the mode of payment and the police in the seller's town did in fact get involved. They traced the bank account details and paid a visit to the home address. Turned out the seller was using her father-in-law's bank account. Anyway, he willingly gave them her name and address and the police got a warrant and searched her house and found a room full of fake Birkins. She was arrested. I did not get my money back, but I felt better knowing this person had been stopped and now had a record for Internet Fraud. Last I heard they were trying to prosecute her for mail fraud as well. This was a tiny town in Texas and I was living in Washington and they still pursued it and assigned me a detective that would handle the investigation. Ideally, I wish I'd had been reimbursed but I feel grateful that law enforcement went above and beyond in tracking her down and shutting down the sales of those awful fake bags.
