just got my first birkin this saturday! (well my husband picked it up and it’s been hidden before he “surprises” me with it). all i know is it’s a 35 black, no idea on hardware color.
i will add that it was a shock to us that he walked in inquiring about purchasing a birkin and the wait time and they called him 5 days later and offered him one.
can’t wait to open and hold it though!

What color/etc did you get?! I already want another hahah
I got a very basic one, etain, Kelly 25, retourné, Togo, asked for minimal veining. I know what you mean by wanting another for me for the moment one is enough, and it takes me at least a year to figure out which specifications, color especially, I want I am very careful with my spending, but if I had more money, of course I would get a blue brume for example

Bleu brume is to die for! Cheers to it landing in your collection in the future!

I like to think of it as a team effort but go with the timing you prefer! 2 months is impressive
Well I have been shopping with Hermes since 2/18. Every year on or near my Bday hubby and I would go into Hermes to shop. My 1st purchase was a Bastia coin purse. The following year, I bought a leather bracelet and a Calvi card holder. It wasn't until 2/20 that I began to really explore the brand and grew to appreciate and love it. That was the first time hubby asked about a quota bag. Towards the end of that year, I came out and asked my SA if it would be possible for me to get something special for my upcoming Bday considering he knows I always come in during that time. 2 months later he surprised me with an early Bday gift. And yes, I think you are totally right, it is a team effort. I'm so glad hubby love Hermes as well.

It took about 18 months from my first purchase and close to the 1:1 ratio spend to get an offer of a B35 in black with RGHW.

I think a few factors are really dependent on your location you shop at. But the first year I didn't go in too much and the second year, I went a tad more. I think at a more flagship store (NYC, SF, Vegas, Hawaii) ratios are less (ESPECIALLY for a B35 or 40 since the masses do love the B25/B30, K25/K28 are the more sought after sizes). Mine shouldn't have taken so long from what I've been advised from H-lovers but I think two factors for me were: Location I shopped at AND SA - very important you find an SA you click with.

Good for you.
You had shown that you were enthusiasts, who used Hermes for special treats.
From what you told us you were not extravagant spenders.
Your SA knew that your birthday request was genuine and not a cheap ploy to get favourable treatment.
