I do not mean to bring back this ancient thread or steal it for that matter but i am unable to create a new one and im hoping to have a question answered.

i am looking to get a coach watch for my moms bday (fast approaching, last min, i know smh) the question i have is if anyone knows if the backing to a coach watch is real gold.

My moms skin get very irratated when she wears anything decides gold, so she doesnt wear watch cuz she wont pay the price for a high end one, so thats why i want to get one for her. any help would be appreciated

No not real gold.

Wow, old thread resurrected!

The watches are very nice quality, on par with Michael Kors or Fossil watches. Very fashionable, and will last a long time if you care for them. I have seen 10-year old Coach watches that still ran like new. Just keep the battery changed as needed and take care of it, and you should be fine.

I am not trying to be rude, but I'm married to a "watch guy" and I just want to clarify something here. Coach watches are a brand licensed by Movado Group. Same with Juicy and Lacoste watches. They are not Swiss-made watches by Movado, and will not have the same parts/materials as Swiss-made Movado watches (I'm wearing a Swiss Movado right now.) As far as I know, Coach watches do not use Swiss movements. I would guess they are Chinese or Japanese quartz. Nothing wrong with that.

I'm not saying the Coach are "bad" watches, because they certainly aren't. They're ver nice and I'm considering one for my next watch! I just want to be clear that you are not getting an $800 Swiss-made Movado when you buy a Coach watch.

They were Swiss made at the time of my post, they no longer are.

Just saw this bumped up and I have spent the last 4 days wearing my Andee Bracelet watch.

Number 1, Coach FP will resize your watch for you. I have weirdly small wrists considering my body type and sometimes I even fall between too tight and too loose if the links are too big. I took my watch that I got on FOS a while back to my FP store and in 20 minutes they had it perfectly resized for no charge and gave me a nice bag to carry my now empty watch box.

I also have very sensitive skin and most watches have given me a rash from the leather, metal backing, etc. I am not a really big jewelry person because I usually only can wear gold (just have earings in one set of holes), but I have had no irritation issues with this watch. I am a teacher and move around a lot and it has been great!

I am resurrecting this old thread only because the new Peanuts watches are out and am considering one for everyday fun. I was wondering what the quality is like nowadays as I am sure they are likely MIC or similarly offshore (but not Swiss). I would like it to work not just be an ornament. TIA.

I'm a little ignorant when it comes to Coach watches, but I always thought Movado manufactured their watches. Is this still true?

That is what I thought too but I think I read somewhere that the same mfr of Fossil and MK was now supplying the timepieces for Coach.

BTW, Macy's is including a gift cherries pouch (it looks like leather) with the watch purchase. Torn between the gang/saddle band and the Snoopy laughing/black band.

The last one I've gotten was about two years ago so it was still under Movado of they've changed manufacturers. But I love all of my Coach watches. I actually wear a MK one currently because they are more water resistant and I need one like that for my job. I wear it daily and love it, so regardless of who makes them, both are great.

I am the undisputed Queen of Coach Watches because I have so many of them! See the photo of my collection of 10 watches below. All of my Coach watches are fine timepieces that have worked well for me.

Recently I was at the Movado Outlet store and I asked the SA if "Movado still makes Coach Watches?" She said "Yes, but they are not made in Switzerland - watches that carry the Movado brand name are still made in Switzerland."

So either Movado has manufacturing facilities outside of Switzerland, or they have contracted someone else to make the watchers for them - but they are still beautiful, high-quality instruments. And it is possible that other designer watches are made by the same company.

I do prefer the bracelet/metal link band but the Peanuts are hard to resist. I think I will buy one to see how I like it and the quality. I am by no means a watch connoisseur having worn an old school Seiko throughout college and grad school- I do not really wear a watch anymore with my iPad and phone. I used to need a second hand for the lab and clinic that fashion watches do not always have.

And I hope this does not turn into a full-on addiction! Thanks for your input!
