Today I'm feeling really down about a particular bag. My sister in laws fiancée left a water bottle in my prada saffiano lux and he didn't close it properly. By the time I noticed the entire bottle had emptied out in to my bag. My wallet and belongings are ruined & the leather has bobbled. 😩😭 We are away from home, I feel distraught at the fact my belongings have been ruined & that I didn't even get an apology. After 6 hours of crying I realised the significance of my bags in my life. Today I've stayed indoors at the hotel as I'm still upset about what happened yesterday. Nobody seemed to understand why I was so upset yesterday. My wallet was a present for my birthday and my bag was a present for my hard work at university. I usually purchase all my bags myself so these present were really important to me. 😔

Here are some pics of the damage 😭😭

To validate your feelings, it may help to write down everything.
I do this, when I'm not sure how to express what's going on inside, but need to handle a situation reasonably.
Lets me sort my thoughts, before I confront others about an issue.

Accidents ought to be made right by responsible party. Especially in a family. "How are you going to fix this?" may be a good place to start.

Just my thoughts--hope they help.

Precious, I want to commend you for your restraint regarding your sister in law's fiancé's thoughtless behavior. That neither he nor she immediately offered to reimburse you for your loss speaks volumes. I agree with Remainsilly and hope you are able to address this issue and receive some measure of reparation. Fingers crossed....

We are finally back at home. Boy am I glad. We still haven't reached a resolution or even got an apology, however my hubby did try and make up some of the damage by purchasing a new bag and wallet for me. I'm the proud owner of a Fendi 2jours in a gorgeous dark red. He has promised to try and resolve the situation with my in laws for me as it may be better coming from him than me. Here is a pic of my new bag which makes me feel a bit happier. The colour of this bag also makes me feel a little sexy 🙊🙈 xx ImageUploadedByPurseForum1418458666.080012.jpg

Way to turn lemons into lemonade, that bag is gorgeous as your shoes! If you can have your hubbie deal with the situation, that is so much better. There may be some misunderstanding-most people who aren't handbag addicts would think water is no big deal spilled on a bag. Let us know what happens.

I will do! Thank you, my shoes are from LK Bennett. They were a bargain £195 down to £85 in the sale! 😍 I don't usually mind spillages in my bags as most things just dry out but as the damage was irreparable, this was different. You're right though, definitely lemonade out of lemons. I feel a lot better about it now knowing that I don't have to deal with it. Xx

Men are so clueless about so many things-it's good the SIL BF gets an education now. Your hubbie gets points galore for knowing how upsetting this is to you and taking action! Perhaps you can pass along the water logged pieces to the SIL-they may eventually dry out and be OK. You deserve nothing less than to have those replaced or at the very least professionally refurbished.

I love LK Bennett, I have a few pairs myself found in a sale too.

UPDATE: I visited Prada yesterday to ask about repairs, the SA said the rippling is due to the water damage having stretched the leather and the outside of the wallet is made from one large piece of leather it's not something that they would be able to fix or replace. 😔 It has been sent to Italy for inspection. Still no word about replacement from the inlaws X

On the other hand, in the past week I have become the proud owner of the Chanel GST and Classic Flap which both make me feel elite x

I love my bags. I even love the no-name ones almost just as much as my "fancier" ones. One of my favourite handbags growing up was purchased on the streets of NY during a school trip. It wasn't a counterfeit of any kind but it has no label whatsoever. I don't know a thing about it but I've treated it with love since I bought it.
My handbags are special to me. Maybe not as special as they are to some people on this forum but my new Chanel ignited that loving fire some people appear to have. I even HUGGED the bag very tightly and nearly cried. I felt sad for it and restoring it has brought me so much joy, more joy than restoring any of my collectables has brought me because it's been so drastic in a short period of time.
They're "just" bags to others, but they're also the item that is there with me every day, holding my belongings and surviving through the day beside me.

I'm so proud of your work on her--& so happy for you. :)
Handbags are keepers of hope & memory--when I buff away a scuff on incredible leather, notice a new scratch on gorgeous hardware, I feel great.
Good bags remain beautiful, through all life throws @ them. Their quality shows through any surface scars. It sparks hope that this idea applies to people, also.;)

I care a ton about my bags but also everything I own and I use them for a long time. I still use my nylon Messenger bag from Ferragamo of 6 years everyday to get to work. I still wear my 10 year old Prada jacket everyday in the crappy winter weather.

My friends used to make fun of me for using the red receipt sleeves from Ferragamo as a wallet everyday during high school and college. But looking back, I honestly cared a lot about the receipt sleeves and treated them with care too lol

I feel like they're items I work really hard for and I only buy stuff for myself, I really can't receive gifts from others. I'm a guy but still, I just can't receive gifts D:
