How do you turn down offers?

I’m sorry I post my question here but I recently told my SA that I’m looking for a B25 in black. She wrote neutral colors down. If a bag comes in and I don’t want it (or I don’t have the funds at that time), I can pass it, right?
I never bought a H bag before so I don’t know how it works.
I’m sure you can pass on the offer. However, if you request for a B25 black and your SA offers you exactly what you want (it is not so hard to come by from the unboxings I saw on social media), I’m not sure how you would be perceived by the SA.

I texted her saying that I won’t be able to purchase coming year, asking her to take me of her list. I think in these kind of situations you have to be honest.
I don’t want to feel obligated to buy a expensive bag when I can use the funds elsewhere at that moment.

I think this is an excellent move. Apart from being honest with your SA, you are probably going to make another customer very happy. It's very prudent financially and I would commend this. Also don't worry, I have turned down many, many bags and I am sure when you are ready, the bag will find you. It is super refreshing to read this and please do not feel any FOMO. I personally think Hermes does appreciate a customer who buys slowly but regularly and cherishes each item.

Thank you for your reply. This makes me feel a lot better.

Hi, I’m not saying this to make u feel bad or anything. Just genuinely answering your question. Definitely if you are not ready to get the bag, don’t get it.

Say you are your SA and u get a black b25 for a customer who wanted it and then subsequently get rejected when it was the exact specs. The next time the same customer comes and ask you for something, will you put in the same effort to get the exact specs for her?

I’m assuming you want to know the consequences and hence you asked. So, just providing a common view I often come across on social media. If you just wish to hear agreements, it’s also ok to ask for agreement and not a view.

Oh no it’s fine, I also like to hear views. This would be my first H bag I asked for. I get it if I’m not offered a bag again if I pass on the bag I asked for, and that’s fine.
So, in order not to offend my SA, I let her know way ahead before she even offers me a bag, I let her know I won’t be able to purchase. when I had my first app she said it should take 2-3 years and with the second app she said it will take 6 months to get me one. And that’s way sooner that I expected. Unlike maybe some others here, I have to save very hard for my luxury items and that’s fine but I know 6 months is not realistic for me.

Besides that, I bought a Chanel classic flap in May and never used it because it doesn’t really suit my lifestyle and I don’t want to make the same expensive mistake again.

I totally understand your situation now. You are not the first one who told me that their SA told them different things each time they ask the same question.

I was told I could get my dream bag in 4 to 6 months, then 6 months, then maybe at the 6 months mark she will check for me. Now is 6 to 8 months and no, it is unlikely to get 2 quota bags a year.

When I read this I thought, 'For goodness sake, if don't have the fund, you can't buy it!'
BUT your subsequent post about explaining your situation to your SA was so refreshing.
If all you read is true SAs are so used clients trying to manipulate them that a client being direct and honest is so refreshing, you will be looked at much more favourably.
Even if a bag almost matches your wishes, as other have written 'almost' is not enough, unless you can casually throw thousands at any old purchase. Again, a discerning customer is respected.

This list definitly shows that offers will still come if you decline something that is not exactly matching what you are looking for. Any SA who values a customer will want to offer something special to that customer.

And it shows that the SA is really not very forth coming. Frankly, SAs have all the power to manipulate their clients in this journey.

Manipulation is a two-way street, so I disagree. The client who knows what she wants/doesn't want, and spends accordingly, is a serious client. SAs can tell. It's a poor salesperson who doesn't see a real client (not someone playing at it) as a potential buyer the next time.

I don’t get it. SA only offer bags when the client shows up regularly, spent enough and have the patience to wait for the offer.

How does somebody fake or play without buying anything? Exceptions are certain stores which we all know about.
