How do you store your Chanel Handbags?

For years I storage them standing upright in their dust bags, chains on the front part of their dust bags. With my most recent ones and new curated collection 3,2,1 year old ones I have been storing them outside dust bags, chain wraps and standing upright, they are all fine.

I actually placed my lambskin cf on its side like the photo above.
The chains are tucked in the other end of the bag (with a paper placed in btw the chains and the bag to prevent imprints on the leather) .

The flap is left open to prevent further wrinkling and the open flap also provides more support standing this way .

The other part of the chains are left dangling like the photo (but the chains are wrapped in soft paper) .

I was advised to place the bag this way to prevent wrinkling forming at the base of the bag (if it were placed standing upright ) . Since the sides of the bag are sturdier so there will not be wrinkling on it's side like it would be on the the base of the bag if it were left standing upright. The bag is empty except for bag inserts
I am curious to know, do you do this only to your lambskin handbags? Also, do you switch sides from time to time? I would assume keeping it this way forever will put more pressure on the side down than the one up? Interesting to see how we all do different ways to storage our bags

I must be one of the only ones but I store all my bags lying flat in their dust bag inside their boxes. I have had bags I have stored for 15 years in this way and I have never had a single issue. I do have a dehumidifier in the room which I store my bags to prevent any issues with mould. I don’t ‘air’ them out regularly - only if im reorganising or using them (which I do regularly for many of them).

I have never had a specific storage advice from Chanel but Hermes has always said to keep the bags in their dustbags in boxes.

Same here - I’ve stored bags flat on their backs for more than 10 years and they’ve been fine. Except for my jumbo, I do wear most of them at least once/twice a month.

I live in Asia where it is hot and humid for most of the year. If I don't keep the humidity and temperature controlled, leather can deteriorate easily. Temperate is set between 22C and 24C (72F to 75F) and humidity between 50% and 55% all year round. I don't do this only for my bags, but for my own comfort and pets.

Each bag has it's own cubby and is stored in the dust bag. For some bags I like to stuff the bags to help keep its shape.

I do change them on the different sides from time to time n this storage position also applies to my my caviar cf. So far so good with the bags. I was told that the if bags were left to stand upright (on its base) , the weight of the bag may just cause wrinkles to form eventually at the base of the bag. If the bags were lying on its back, the quilts may get deflated.

Thanks @PurseCloset for the recommendations it makes sense what they told you. I will do that from now forward. You put the chain on the other side correct? I was cleaning one CF yesterday and let it drying on its side but left chains laying flat in the back.

Im wondering whether people leave their flaps open when storing their bag to prevent zipper indentation? I know the felt doesn’t do much but I notice a crease along the back of the bag when the flap is open and im worried this will become worse and permanent even when closed if the flap is left open all of the time in storage. If i had to choose id rather a zipper indentation that no one can see then a permanent crease happening quicker then it would with normal wear and tear.

Whats your experience with leaving flaps open?

I leave the flap open, but I don’t have the crease when it’s open for storage. If you do have the creasing from just having the flap a little bit open, then I would keep it closed. I agree that it’s better to have the den from zip on the inside then a noticeable crease outside.
