How Do You Store Your Birkins?

my clemance birkin...in size 30cm...I put in the dust cover and lay on the pillow in the box since its clemance...but I leave the box top off to let the leather breath...

but my togo birkin...35cm and my kelly bag... I just leave sitting upright in my closet with the dust cover...

however...as per the ideas of the lovely ladies on the forum....I bought white handtowels, washed them..let them airout...then rolled them in my bag for shape.

one day my goal is to get a Hermes amoire where I can keep them all in there!

GUCCIGAL:Good idea with the white handtowels. Why do you need to let the clemence breath? Thanks!:smile1:

I store most of my bags in their boxes since I rotate only 2-3 bags frequently. I store the bags as if they arrived to me brand-spanking new--the felt protectors in place, clochette/padlock & strap (if any) in their rightful sleepers. It drives me nuts if I DON'T store them this way, but it also drives me nuts when I have to take them out again to stare at or use and put them back inside. I guess I am just nuts either way, eh?

24,Faubourg: Time after time again I do exactly what you do to the H bags. And I always thought I am the only nut. Hee Hee!

My Kellys are stuffed and stored in their sleepers on their tissue pillows inside their orange boxes. I remove the shoulder strap and put it in its little sleeper and tuck the clochette under the Kelly's closed straps to keep it in place. I tend to wear them only a couple of times each month, so I don't mind storing them in their boxes.

My Birkins and HAC are stuffed with Scandia Down down boudoir pillows. The straps are closed but not placed through the strap "keeps." The bags are then tucked into their sleepers and laid on their backs on closet shelves.

My Bolide is stuffed with tissue, tucked into its sleeper and laid on its back on a closet shelf. The strap is tucked into its own little sleeper and placed inside the bag.

I recently posted about a woman at Hermes Madison asking Claude how to restore the shape to her Birkin. It was either Clemence or Togo, not sure which. He sighed and suggested that she stuff it and keep it on its back to try to undo the damage she'd done by not doing this on a regular basis (or ever, most likely). Claude's sigh wasn't very encouraging.

I fold, then roll a bathtowel (white or not) into a configuration that fits the Birkins (35), pull straps into position but not necessarily through guides, and store on side in their sleepers.
I don't store them in their boxes but I have all the original boxes.

There was an article posted here ages ago where a Hermes rep suggested the best way to store the bags was lying down, ie: how they are in their boxes (they said something romantic like "lying asleep on their little pillows"). It takes the pressure off the bag, and reduces the slouching over time. I store the ones I am using in my dressing room, standing up, and the others in their boxes, as 24 does. And like Pepper, I don't put the Birkin straps in their keepers.

Uh oh..........I store mine standing upright stuffed with down travel pillows and all buckled up inside my armoire. That goes for my Clemence, Togo, Chevre, Box AND Croc bags.......what am I doing to them?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

Uh oh, the Hermes police are going to come and take all your bags away and charge you with negligence and abuse! You will only be able to visit them at prearranged times and only with a chaperone who will make sure they are returned to their proper sleeping positions!

Someday, will you do a thread with pics of your armoire if you haven't already? :girlsigh:Pretty please?

When I switch my bags, I store them in the exact way they came to me - bubble pad inside, felt cloth, lying on paper pillow. It's the best way to retain their shape and everything.
