Thanx for all the ideas!!!!!!! Yay I've got a little cash stash all set-up!!!! Now all I have to do is work lots of double shifts and lie to mum about why I'm REALLY going to Sydney in the holidays lol :shame: .

I'M SOOO GOING TO IMPLEMENT UR IDEA *sparkling eyez*

i have a LV box of my vernis porte tresor international that i'll use to accumulate $$ thank u

I put aside money every month for clothes, bags, etc. I don't purchase every month. When I like an item, then I'll buy. Since you're still in college, there is no need to rush purchasing LV items. Just collect the basics like the speedy, wallet first. Once you started working and have high-flying powerful job, you can almost purchase more expensive items than what you can afford during your college days. The savings period is also faster because you have the extra dollars to put into your bag fund. You can even start applying Amex card so you don't need to lug your cash around purchasing items.

Heya...

I haven't really been starving myself altho I did first buy my designer pieces when I was still finishing off my Masters in UNI. They were impulse buys too so I don't think that I put too much thought into them. I just like saving money cause I like seeing my money grow and putting a financial target  for myself.

For e.g, I'll say something like,"This year I must save $5k, anything above that is spending money" And I do that. Once I reach my financial goal I whack it into a fixed term deposit so I can't touch it anymore.

Very bad goals tho I know:hrmm: ...I just realised that I have to be stricter on myself... I think I am spending more than 50% of my money on luxe stuff, like facials, cosmetics, manicures, good food and wine... no wonder I have no money to buy me bags with.

cool ideas, ive just begun thinking of the same - how i can save up for london *lv + Gucci + Chanel trips*. Ive decided to open a bank account but give my mum the card so i cant get any money out but dont give her the pin so she cant get non either ha!
When i saved for my first LV i knew i was buying it in paris so as soon as i got money *christmas and birthday came before bag was bought though* i changed it into euros so i couldnt spend it. i thought that was quite a cool idea.

Hope your saving goes well im about to save again for london... hmmm that wont last long

well I'm a college student as well (hubby has a job, but that pays for CCs, mortgage, bills, child support, his toys, etc.). So what I've started doing is every paycheck I take what is left over and transfer it into the savings account. 1K goes to me, 1K goes to hubby, and 1K goes to credit cards. When I have that much saved up I buy.
In addition, I have also started selling stuff for my bro-in-law on ebay. I get 50% of sale price after ebay/paypal fees. hubby says because I am doing all of the work it is all mine.
I also work in psychology, so I do in-home child assessments. They pay $105 for about 2 hours of work...that goes directly into bag fund as well (I do about 4-5 a month).

I hate spanding $ so most of it goes straight to the bank. The only vice I hae is eBay. The money goes quick but I do weigh out my options. If I want 7 bags from eBay or 1 LV from eLux or the store. So far I purchased one and BF got me one so I'm good for now.

I stalk eBay all the time.. in addition to saving, there's always deals to be had !

There are some great eBay sellers who offer layaways...and even those who don't advertise the option will accept payment arrangements and give you extended time to pay if you ask.

I also always pay cash like someone else said so that I don't just fly off of the handle with credit card purchases because I'm charging them and not coming out of pocket for the expense right away.

I try to put $50-$100 a week aside in my nightstand as my bag fund. If it's something I need now I charge it, unless my cc's are maxed which they are right now. No bags for me for awhile.

I hate to sound simplistic, but all you do is watch EVERY penny you spend. In a restaurant, drink water. When you get your gas, pay for the gas and not gas AND a drink/candy bar/chips/or any combination of those items. Watch all of those niggling purchases under $5 because it's super easy to grab something and then not consider what they are totaled up. If you have stores around that offer fabulous store brands, go for those. I rarely buy a regular Diet Coke as Kroger's Diet K is great and 59 cents for a 2 liter bottle.

All of the niggly stuff really does add up.

i also i agree most of my bags are from hubby but my coach bags i buy myself (hubby only likes lv ) and i will save up at work theres a bank account my job offers and i have to wait two weeks if i put in a request for money to be withdrawn so i save up and forget its even there but every month they deduct from my paycheck and deposit it you need an account you need an account where it will deduct from your paycheck and you dont have access easily too it

Since LV is an extreme luxury for me and no where near a necessity I only buy it when I get a commission. Any monies from any other jobs is not allowed toward LV, only bills.

And I only pay cash. It hurts more that way and keeps it in perspective!!
