I always say "klo-ee" but I think many of you are right - it's "klo-eh."

As CHB says, i assume it would be a tight, acute, "eh" rather than a long drawly "aaay."

Although having said that, klow-eh" is probably most accurate as I'm not sure if the "klo" and "eh" should be staccato!?!

All I know is that it's definitely not "shlo" anything LOL! I think you should just trust lechat, OP!

I believe the proper French pronunciation is "klo-eh" but it seems the American pronunciation is "klo-ee". I find American pronunciation of many French words very different. Esp. French last names here in the US!

it's 'ay' because of the accent. It's pronounced klo-ee in English without the accent, but the accent on the e, is called an accent agu, and it makes the ee sound 'ay'. So klo-ay.

I pronounce it the "European" ( hopefully French ;) ) way...It's Klo-eh for me...( "Klo" like "clo"-set) and "eh" like a long, "real" e ( like "E"nterprise...not as an "i" like "E"mergency...)
I know that the Chloé-SA in London pronounce it "Klo-y". ( "Klo" like "clo"-set too ) And I guess this would be my English version too...

I like the detailed explanation:laugh:
In french it is" klo-weh" (french educated ;))
"eh" like ai - airport
And no need to pause in the middle:"Kloweh"
