How Do you Feel When an Item You Paid Retail 4 Ends Up at the Outlet?

Under my circumstances, being zillions of miles from an outlet, I am more aware that an ebay seller is really profiting from me!

Considering all the bags I've already missed, I can't allow myself to be anxious about whether it will or won't get to the outlet. My attitude about that is it will show up on ebay one day.

When I do purchase at full price from Coach.com I am appeased that perphaps product, is less likey a return or not handled as much as an outlet bag . . .

i used to only get ones at the outlet...then i discovered that i needed c's and at one of my outlet stores its mostly what they carry at the other none at all....so i guess ill just buy if i see something cute or wait...

I love Coach outlets so I mainly shop there. Of course living in Montana means this is done when I'm on vacation. ha! Anyway, I did splurge and buy a purse at a boutique in Vegas and I have NO regrets. It is by far my favorite Coach purse.

If I really want it, the price isn't that big of a deal. Why would you regret buying something you love??

Odds are good most things go to the outlet but this one purse I bought was too awesome and I didn't want to risk not having it.

It can be disappointing - but I try not to think about it. So far three bags I "HAD" to have - I later found at the outlets... the good thing is - I got to choose the bags I wanted from the boutique - they were in mint condition and if I didn't get them (and wasn't able to find them at the outlet) I would have been downright SAD! LOL I guess that is the chance we take.

I had a wonderful outlet experience this weekend.

I had long loved the embossed C tobacco book tote--I don't remember the style number, but it came in black, tobacco and red and was about $500. While visiting the outlet close to me this weekend, I found the tabacco style in the Hamptons Large Carryall, and it was 70% off MSRP. Just amazing! I had dug it out from a pile of other bags, and I had four different people ask me about it in two minutes!

I loved that style and color but couldn't make myself pay that amount b/c I really wanted a carryall style. So, I let it go, and 6 months later I found the perfect bag! I'll post pics soon. I just love it!

Sometimes you have a bit of serendipity at the outlet.

I've never bought a bag at a boutique so I guess I don't know exactly what it feels like, but I do sort of. My first bag I bought myself was the Soho flap 2 years ago at an outlet. It was only $30 cheaper than retail but I really wanted it so I bought it. A year later it was still at the outlet for $100 less. It didn't bother me too much since it was a year later. Same thing with my book tote (I think that is what it is called). I bought my sister one at an outlet for roughly $265 and only a few months later I bought mine at the same outlet for $100 less. That hurt more. I have noticed that most of the bags I like aren't the ones that are on super clearance at the outlets. So my new philosophy is if there is an older bag I want, I will check out the outlet. Otherwise I will save up and buy it at the boutique and hopefully eventually I will get invited for the PCE, which basically gives me a better discount than I would get at the outlet.

It is annoying when it is almost instaneous. But I bought a bag in June '05 during the PCE. The retail at that point was $298. One of my friends just bought it at the outlet for $119. And she was so happy and was telling everyone how she had gotten a much better deal on it that I had. BUT the thing is, I don't carry it anymore because I am kinda sick of it. Basically I need (almost) instant gratification and I usually can't wait for something to MAYBE to go the outlet. And I have a tendancy to be drawn to bags that won't go to the outlet.

That's why hubby makes me wait as long as possible between buys (hehe-3 weeks tops!!). We only have 1 boutique and 1 outlet where I live. The outlet hasTHE best things at THE nicest prices!!!! Too bad for me I'm on a total ban till my b-day (JULY :crybaby: ). By the way, I thought my sister, my SIL and I were obsessed!!!!

^^^You beagles are darling !

About the bag reaching the outlet...that really makes me mad. It happened to me only once about 2 years ago and that too on the pleated black hobo which went down to $199 (after about a year) from $498 that I originally paid :cursing:

Those beagles are just darling!

As someone who really loves our Coach outlet b/c it has so many wonderful choices, I will say that there should be a certain time period between when something is at the boutique and when it hits the outlet.

I know I've picked up a couple of things at the boutique in the past only to find them at the outlet a short time later, which is a serious bummer.

If they spanned it out--like this past Christmas (06) they had the Holiday 05 patchwork available, and I think that's great because you can still pick up a favorite if you missed out. However, seeing my holiday patchwork 06 tote there was a bummer--thank goodness I had used my PCE for it so the price was about the same, but other times I haven't been so lucky.

If I really love something and fear it will sell out, I will get it at the boutique and consider myself warned. At least I won't totally miss out on getting something I really love.

It's a bit like gambling--fun when you win and frustrating when you lose.
