I carry mini bags a lot of the time and pretty much adapted my lifestyle to fit my bag.:D for shopping I have cross body mini and I just carry wallet, keys, lip balm & iPhone. For nights out or dinner dates, a small clutch, will fit the above, and maybe a travel card or some face powder- what else do I need?

I used to carry a mini bag every day for years. I don't think they work well for people who don't drive (hence have a car to leave things like a cardi, umbrella, sunglasses, book, change of top for the evening etc in) or who are going from one place to another and requite strategic packing. For instance, do you realise how many umbrellas (mini/folded included) I have had to buy/borrow just because my mini wouldn't accommodate. And then there is the extra bottle of water. I used to end with a mini and

Interesting! I don't drive but I love mini bags and actually have to leave many things at home to wear them. I never carry an umbrella or anything big and I definitely know strategic packing ;)

I agree with this 100%. I got a m/l Chanel classic flap thinking I would downsize my bag and make it work... I just can't. I need my essentials pouch (houses my keys, blotting paper, lip balm, sunscreen, paracetamol etc), my umbrella (I live in London), my wallet, a water bottle, my headphones, a cardigan and snacks. I feel sort of lost with out them, much as I hate the weight and how a big bag looks! So far my medium longchamp has been my perfect size bag

London living

Umbrella? - I can make it rain just by leaving the house without one
Sunglasses? - Guarantee, after the rain comes sun
Cardigan/jumper? - Air con, after 6, friend insists on taking the table in the draft etc :D

but I totally admire you for downsizing

I'm 5'3" and small framed so I carry petite bags often. Big bags dwarf me and make me look like a child carrying mommy's handbag. Also, I will fill any bag I carry, no matter how big. If I am carrying a giant bag I can make it weigh enough to hurt my back, so I try to limit the capacity of what I am carrying.

I wish they worked for me! I have a few crossbodys that I don't use very often. If I do use them, I take up all the room with just my essentials and it worries me that I don't have extra room "just in case" I need to put other things in there. I also always carry my bf's wallet, phone and keys so I need space for those. Therefore I only use my crossbody when I go groceries since I will only be gone for a little bit. Other than that, I carry bigger bags to hold my essentials and extra items that I may need to put in.

Excellent points

I have a hand held umbrella -and a micro mini that fits in my mini Chanel camera bag. That is pretty spacious will have to post a photo of what it fits.
Sunglasses stay on my head.
I wear or carry a raincoat or scarf.

But I don't really commute so I think that makes a difference.

I had to laugh...I'm 5'10" and have bought a couple mini bags for dinners out at night. Love the size and fits my needs. I had to overcome the "Barbie Syndrome" (tiny bags on tall bodies) but now I don't give a damn. Works for me...................

I'm short, but this is what it's all about. If you can wear it from a functional perspective and like it, that's all that ought to matter. How boring things would be if we all had the same style.

I don't typically carry mini bags because I usually like bringing a water bottle and a book with me along with my other things (wallet, sunglasses, etc.), which requires more room than a mini bag allows. I do love mini bags for when I only need my wallet and sunglasses, though, usually when I'm running errands or going out with friends.

I think it really depends on how you define a small bag. The smallest I can go is my medium Lay Dior (9"x7"x4"), which is actually quite roomy for what I need to carry. Obviously for work I use a bag that's big enoug hto fit A4 papers and files.

Haha, I never imagined that tall girls would have problems with small bags! I guess everyone has their own cross to bear! I'm sure you look great.

I'm looking at smaller bags more often these days. Anything that can fit my phone, lip balm, some cash and cards, facial blotters, hand sanitizer, and tissues. I carry sunglasses too but I hardly take them off my face when we're out during the day (even indoors). Vuitton's Nano collection is my size limit I guess. Years of carrying really heavy school bags and large handbags have practically ruined my left shoulder.
