How do you dress when you buy a new handbag?

This will sound horrible but if I am window shopping, I dress to the nines. Louboutin heels, Prada, YSL, Givenchy bag, Burberry trench, diamond earrings, bracelet, necklace....probably somewhat overboard. I do it just to tease them b/c it is the same b***ches that are tripping over themselves to talk to me who ignore me when I am wearing yoga pants and Uggs. When I actually intend to buy, it is very low key weekend wear or work out gear. I like to go against the grain.

Today I was wearing a Lululemon pull over, yoga paints and snow and salt stained Uggs and dropped my CC for a pair of Manolos without giving it a second thought. The people that still talk to me and greet me deserve my business, those that don't, won't get it.

I have mixed feelings about this. Dressed casually and dressed sloppy are different things. I would find it difficult to take someone seriously if they appeared to be sloppy. However, always being kind and respectful is necessary.
I dress casually in jeans, T-shirt, maybe a scarf, tidy hair and natural make/up.

 I like to dress up when I go shopping for clothes, handbags, cosmetics etc.. Because I like to get a good service! Also it's a part of my lifestyle .. I work in the luxury industry too (I'm an interior architect) and I appreciate clients who make the effort to dress well and look presentable rather than jeans and flip-flops! But I keep that to myself it's unprofessional to give anyone a snooty attitude that's just unacceptable! But wether we like it or not how you present yourself to the world is really important!
I expect to get good service whether I look like a million bucks or whether I have on a t-shirt. I am a customer looking at products. They need to be the ones impressing me.
I present myself to the world with a smile on my face, a good attitude, a respect for others. They don't have to know what I drive or how much income a yr I make.
I can look like this (pic 1, I paid $4900 for total outfit, head to toe) ... or this (pic 2)... or this (PJs) while shopping via email or text with my most loyal SAs at my favorite boutiques or Neimans.
:)
Just my 2 cents' worth. ;)
But, then again, I am older than most here and don't have anything to prove. Just a happy handbag and clothes shopper.

Alllllll my life nobody has helped me. I was trying to buy the new iMac and nobody would help me. Also when I went to go buy my kids three iPads! Every time I buy furniture at Pottery Barn. Ok, back to purses. Every store I go to, it always happens. Nobody helps me at Macy's, Michael Kors, Nordstrom. I must look like a young scrub with no money! They're always shocked that I buy something. The woman at Macy's asked me three times if I really wanted the bag (red mini hamilton). No respect at all. That's why I do all of my research before I purchase something. I walk in, grab it, and check out.

I usually dress up unless I'm hanging out with my best friends. People that don't respect you don't need a job in customer service.

That's because you look really young! ;) not in a young scrub with no money kind of way, love the second pic btw

I dress in the kind of clothing I'd like to wear with the new bag I'm there to check out. I like to see if the clothes I have fit with the style of the bag. I look for bags that complement my style. Generally, my style is pretty consistent. Very simple with a lot of black and a bit of edge.

I won't dress up to impress sales people. In fact, I prefer that they leave me alone. I hate when they breathe down my neck. Too much pressure and it makes me not want to shop. My style is pretty polished anyways so I always look pulled together when I shop.

That's in a perfect world, not the one we're living in .. Unfortunately! I didn't talk about flashing car keys or talking about income, I only talked about looking presentable (I'm only explaining this because you quoted me).
Love both your sophisticated and dressed down looks.

I like both looks. In fact, I think the second look is pretty classy! :smile1:

I usually dress to fit the bag I intend to buy. If I'm looking for a bag to take to work, I dress in work clothes, weekend wear for casual bags, etc. Same goes for colors and seasons. I also do my research and have found that I can talk my way into getting decent service if the SA knows I'm looking for something specific regardless of what I'm wearing.

I don't dress like this in public, but thought it was funny. My mother got me the shirt. This is probably how people see me.

It's not so much a comment on the way you look (which is totally presentable, you are beautiful too) but a sad reflection of bad customer service.

I always think it's a culture that starts with the SMs and filters down. How else can you explain constantly wonderful service, despite changing staff, for years at one Chanel store and yet the opposite at another less than a mile away?

You have kids??! Oh my gosh, your figure is perfect! You're gorgeous! And I agree, you look young! (These are all meant to be compliments, by the way!!) :) Love the pose - Lol.

I buy 90% of my bags second hand, but if I am buying one in a store it's usually because I've hunted it down and it's on sale, so I'm driving there frantically to purchase before anyone else. So there's a chance I'll look like a crazy woman

You do look really young, but not at all in a scrub kind of way! Love your second "how they see me" pic, that mini Selma gets me everytime so pretty!
