How did you obtain your Birkin?

I got lucky. My husband bought me a fuschia lizard birkin 25 and I just thought it was too small and for the price I wanted to wait for a 35. Luckily, when I went to return it, they brought out a black 35 that apparently they didn't get a return call from so they gave it to me.:yahoo:

hey can anyone tell me what the current price of a ostrich Birkin (any size or color)? and maybe where i could purchase one... that would be amazing! Also I dont have a Hermes anywhere near me so if you have any idea on what the best way to go about purchasing one is please let me know.. THANKS SO MUCH

Hi. I'm a newbie to this board.
And I haven't obtained my Birkin yet. :(

But after reading all the threads here...I like the idea
of "the chase", of not getting instant gratification.

excentric920--There is a very helpful price
guide here. I just don't happen to know the link
off hand, but I read it this morning.

Hi,

The price for a 35cm ostrich birkin was $14,900 before tax. Don't know if the price has gone up recently. Like all the others have said, get to know a good SA and let he/she know what you are interested in and ask them to call you when they get the bag in.

Good luck!!!

Oh, and by the way, what the SA told you was correct - there are NO Birkin wait-lists at the Sydney Store. Also, you will find that the advice from many of the members here would be not to walk into the store and ask about Birkins on your first visit! They like to get to know you, first.

I know this is an old response I am responding to, sorry. However, I was curious as to why they would need to get to know you? Hermes is exclusive, yes, but we are consumers of a fashion product. It almost sounds as if some sort of screening process is necessary. Perhaps it is a mutually beneficial cultural approach that I do not yet understand.....:confused1:

Perhaps, they fear that the next consumer can pick one up at retail and sell it on ebay for a marked up cost.
