How did you afford your Cartier Love pieces?

For me my bf and now husband always sets a budget for me to buy luxury things I want. We started out as steady jobs then we owned our own business so then the budget would flexure depending on our commitments. For example I got my love ring in 2016 when we weren’t making as much but still make space for me to buy things after all other commitments ofc. And in 2019 (27 years old) I got the sm love in rose sm JUC in rose and diamond Tiffany T in rose. Next month I’m planning to get JUC pave ring in white gold and in October thin pave love in white gold. I always plan it in the year so I know I am working towards something. When ever I make a purchase or special holidays I would also make small donations. Also I started off collecting bags and now that my collection is pretty good I went to jewelry. We don’t have kids yet but is planning soon so I want to make as many purchases as I can now lol
I can relate. I’m 27, and my husband and I are also discussing about having kids in the next few years. I know I won’t be able to spend as much on luxury goods then, so I’m trying to save and purchase what I can now.

I allocate my money for spending pretty differently than some people. For example, I don't ever drink coffee/extras (that adds up so so so so much), I do my own nails (except for pedicures), I color my own hair (I am a professional, so I'm lucky in that regard), I RARELY travel (obviously that's harder now), I have a great car, but a modest payment and is almost paid off, etc. I think a lot of this comes down to what you prioritize, lots of people prioritize the above, and there's nothing wrong with that, I personally, would rather have more jewelry! I also stopping buying handbags as much as I was because I can get much more wear out of jewelry (daily wear).

Ultimately, I have been killing myself building my business for years, and I decided that there is a delicate balance, but there is absolutely no joy in life if you can't ever buy things that truly make you happy. Women can buy themselves their own luxury purchases (I hate that people assume you're wealthy, gifts, etc) and work hard. I also believe in manifesting, but it's more like goal-setting for me.

I’ve been eyeing the Love bracelet for years and tried looking at my finances seeing if I could afford it. Also a Bay Area home owner here and for awhile it seemed impossible because my fiancé and I are also saving for a wedding.

My company doesn’t get bonuses but we do get RSUs ive been with my company for about 7 years and so they finally vested. When I saw how much I had I decided to sell some which ended up putting me at a budget enough for the Cartier Love Cuff. The regular Love Bracelet seemed out of reach but my fiancé had made extra cash through the stock market and offered to pay the difference.

I love the idea of selling things you no longer use or want will definitely do that in the future if I want something!

Just curious how everyone was able to afford to their pieces and back stories. I've wanted a YG love bracelet for about 5 years now, and I was recently promoted so I finally (kind of) have the means, but I'm feeling so guilty. Like I should be saving that money, or I feel guilty that it could help so many people. I know this is a ridiculous thought but I can't help it.. ugh. So just curious how everyone justified buying, whether you saved for a few years, or just made enough in your job to not even think about it. Just FYI background, I'm 28, have a stable job, no student loans or significant bills, just trying to save for a house.
Wow 28 and you sound so disciplined with your finances, well done. I am 40 now and only now I got gifted a small thin love bangle by my DH. I have always wanted one too and over the years purchased other jewelelry that are also high end, but maybe not as popular as Cartier and my heart always said one day I will get one. Kind of regret not getting it sooner, because the prices just keeps going up and up. If you really want one and you will wear it I say go for it. But I have always worked and so doesn’t my husband and before I bought any of my luxuries I owned a small place, over the years I bought so many designers items that were discontinued and now I think wow only if I just bought what I really wanted.

Same here about wishing I had bought sooner... The price really does just keep going up and up. Of course, the price of other luxury goods do too so you do have to prioritize somewhat. :) If only I could go back 10 years in time and tell myself "Don't worry about money, you'll keep making it, buy all the classic luxury goods you want now and get it out of the way."

Well, you never know - I bought my first Cartier piece (love bracelet) 7 years ago. A few months later, there was a decrease. As of today, the price is a little bit short of the price I paid at the time ($6,600). Lol

I wanted one for few years and kept talking myself out of it. Finally I said screw it and bought one. Quickly decided I needed another one and got that few months later. I would recommend getting before you get the house because trust me all your money goes to getting house the way you want it.

100 agree. I have been eying it for years but just kept talking to myself: no no it is too expensive and I should get the house/baby first then the bracelet, and it is just a bracelet, not a big deal.

We got our baby and then the house, now I dont have anything for the bracelet anymore

You just now have to get creative lol. I suggest a new account that you save in and don’t touch until it’s time to make your purchases. Those few hundreds here and there will add up and next thing you know your doing your reveal

I'm glad you created this thread, as I'm sure every purchase here has been the product of a lot of thought, a lot of work and of great sentimental value. I always wanted the Cartier Love Bracelet and/or the Cartier Love Silk Cord Bracelet, so much so that I emailed Cartier about it, and the price of each then was $2,975.00 and $525 respectively (I still have the email from Cartier haha). I had just graduated Law School and although it was a lot of money then, I figured I had just become an attorney, I was on my to making tons of money (LOL) and I deserved to treat myself! But then the 2008 Recession hit and finding a job became really hard, so I never pulled the trigger. I finally got my first Cartier piece last year - it was the Trinity Silk Cord, a beautiful gift from my boyfriend. Now, the Love Bracelet's price has doubled (and it will not go down anytime soon). Sometimes I think "Man, had I pulled the trigger then, I would've had it for all these years!" I guess I made the right decision at the time, but I do think about it a lot!

Point is: Life gets complicated sometimes; in fact, it always will. Tomorrow is buying the house, and next year it will be planning the wedding and then after that, the baby, and then three years later, maybe another baby. If you can afford it now, get it. Treat yourself! It will be a reminder of your hard work, a celebration of this point in your life. If anything, it's a sound investment LOL because like I said, the price keeps going up! the time is now!

*UPDATE* After so many years of wanting a Cartier LOVE bracelet, I can happily say that I got my first Cartier LOVE Cuff. I'm so excited, and honestly proud of finally getting it, after wanting it for all these years. I must admit commenting on this post and seeing all the responses from other people about they approached investing on theirs really inspired me to finally reward myself!!!

Similar to juliemaggio - I invest and budget for jewelry with the money I save from not drinking coffee, not having a car or taking taxis (I take public transport in NYC), not partying, not getting my nails done, not going to the spa, not paying for a gym membership, not spending a lot of money on rent, barely drinking and not doing drugs or smoking, etc. I also rarely travel or go on vacations. And I don't have kids (or plan to). All of those things add up and I live fairly frugally compared to my peers.

I am now thinking not to get the love bracelet, because after reading all the issues with screw coming off I think that would drive me nuts :biggrin: I know Cartier has great Customer Service, but still I just dont wanna have that issue. But I might get the interlocking bracelet.
