How did you afford your Cartier Love pieces?

In my case the title of this thread should be "how could you afford your Cartier Love pieces?" Not only do I not have one, I also have no idea how I could ever get to one. Unfortunately I do not come from a rich family, don't have a rich boyfriend and also just an average job. But when I look at all these great jewels on TPF, I get ispired to I think about what I have to change in my life in order to be able to post photos of my Cartier pieces here one day.

You don’t need to have rich family or rich husband to afford Cartier. Nice jewelry collections definitely take time to acquire. Create wish list and work towards it. What items are you drawn to?

I bought mine when I was 21/22. I was making good money but I sold things and saved for a couple of years. I still have a hard time spending that much money. It took me months to pull the trigger on a restoration hardware couch but even with that too I sold things and saved. I don’t ever buy things outright from paychecks, I’ve always made myself sell things to upgrade. Maybe in another 10 years I’ll outgrow this complex I have. Should also say, no wealthy family, boyfriends etc. I am completely self made. But I had to be conscientious about my spending to be able to save for it.

A lot of the ladies and gents on TPF are self-made and many I’m sure come from humble beginnings. You will get there, I’m sure of it

Thanks for your encouraging words. What I definitely take away from here is that I have to be much more focused on what I spend my money on. My target is clearly a classic love bracelet. For sure a long way to go and I don't know if it will really pay off, but I'm just crazy about that thing.
Meanwhile, I continue to admire all the spectacular collections on TPF. It's just crazy what you see here. When I look at my three or four top favorites, these ladies seem to have an endless budget.

No husband, rich family etc here. Budget is key, those $5 coffees add up so I make them at home. If I don't use some thing it will be sold. It's all about what your priority is and what you really want. It's easy to assume that everyone else is"rich" but it's actually hardwork and being focused with a plan. Good luck.

I didn't come from a rich family, either, far from it! And my now-husband didn't either. Could you change jobs? I switched careers partially because I wanted a higher income. It took like 3 years to figure out what my new career would be and then prepare for it while still working full time. It was a lot to deal with, but it was worth it. Big life changes are possible, but they may take time and effort.

Haven't read every answer in this thread but WHY is "having (lots of) Cartier pieces" automatically associated with a rich family or a rich boyfriend?! Kinda implying that woman can only get the love pieces though a wealthy family or bf? I am sure every woman is able to get a Cartier love piece through hard work and smart financial planning! What I've realized is that good qualification really helps with getting a good paid job. Even without one, you can get a good qualification/good job through hard work. If thats not of your interest then you can afford the love pieces with smart financial planning: put a fixed amount of money aside when you get your wage (a small amount like 100€ or whatever suits your lifestyle) and you will be able to afford a love bracelet in a few years! Good job + budgeting is the key imo.
