Hilary Duff Opens Up on Mike Comrie Split in 'Elle Canada' December 2014 Issue

Hilary Duff rocks a flashy black dress on the cover of Elle Canada magazine’s December 2014 issue, out on newsstands now!

Here’s what the 27-year-old actress had to share with the mag:

On her new album: “When I decided to take a break, I was burned out and wanted to do smaller things that made me happy. Then I had Luca and was just sitting and reflecting on my journey; the thing I missed most about my old life was performing and being onstage. I didn’t really go into this thinking ‘Oh, this is going to be my big musical comeback.’ I just started writing and it started to feel good in my bones again.”

On the media attention surrounding her split from husband Mike Comrie: “I have a good therapist! [Laughs] I’ve dealt with [attention] for such a long time. But some of the bigger struggles that came my way in the past two years—like my separation or when my parents separated—were the first times I had to deal with people knowing about something personal happening to my family. It just felt so invasive and insensitive. It got really gross, and I think part of you gets a bit desensitized. The best way to handle it is by just owning your sh-t. I’m human and this is what happened. None of us is perfect.”

On her show Younger: “I didn’t really mean to. My agent called me and was like, ‘I have a really good show; it’s a Darren Star show and he wants you for it.’ I said: ‘I can’t do that right now. I have Luca, and I definitely can’t move to New York.’ She told me to just read it. It was really, really good…. I either take a break or just slam myself full throttle, so here I am shooting the show and making a record at the same time again.”

Hilary Duff On Weighing 98 Pounds: ''I Was Obsessed With Everything I Put in My Mouth''

Hilary Duff knows how to maintain her killer curves, but she hasn't always been confident about her body.

The "Younger" star covers the latest issue of Health, where she reveals that she's always struggled with our skinny-obsessed society, especially after giving birth to her son, Luca.

"The second I had Luca, I went to go get my hair blown out at the salon, and I hadn't stepped outside in, like, 15 days," she tells the mag. "I was learning how to be a new mom, and I needed to go get my hair done. Then they're like, 'Hilary Debuts Her Post-Baby Body!' I was like, I'm not debuting s--t right now. I'm just going on an errand run! There is way too much pressure on women these days. It took me a whole 10 months to build a baby."

The former Disney darling confesses that she felt a lot ofpressure to lose the baby weight from the tabloids.

"Oh my God, everyone was so hard on me because it took me a year and a half to get my body back! When I was 17, I weighed, like, 98 pounds," Duff admits. "I was totally obsessed with everything I put in my mouth. I was way too skinny. Not cute. And my body wasn't that healthy—my hands would cramp up a lot because I wasn't getting the nutrition I needed. That constant pressure of wanting something different than I had? I regret that."

Hilary has learned to be proud of her super-toned figure, but she still struggles with those last five pounds.

"I feel like there was way too much time spent thinking about that," she says. "This is the body that I have. I have a very athletic build, and I am so proud of what my body has done for me. I had the best, healthiest, strongest pregnancy. And I feel good about myself. But I feel like I'm always in a 5-pound battle, because being 5 feet 2, everything is going to show on me."

Don't worry, Hil -- everything that's showing looks really good!
